So we dropped off our rental car at Budget and jumped in the shuttle to head to the cruise port.

First sight of the Dream on the shuttle

I think I timed that picture pretty good

OK so once we gathered up our bags after we got off the shuttle we gave our 2 big bags to the porters at the terminal. This is where the total cluster fudge started  Now we are Platinum but we were told to go stand in a line with other people who were first-time cruisers, past guests (but not platinum), and more Platinum guests. We stood outside for over an hour and a half. It was absolutely awful  My dad asked to speak with one of the Carnival employees who work at the Port. She was walking around with a clipboard but she was a total "not a nice lady"
After an hour and a half we finally went through security and received our Platinum cards and Priority Boarding cards.....except they were already calling zones and were up to Zone 5. There were 6 lines coming out of the terminal and we all had to merge into one line to get on the ship. I have NEVER experienced such a horrible embarkation. This was due in part because we were at a different terminal due to the repositioning cruise. After about 2 hours we finally made it on the ship.....it was now almost 1:00 pm. I needed a STIFF drink :p Edited by wrigley80
Wow - That looks like a disaster waiting to happen.

You know, we had a non-so-great embarkation in Port Canaveral as well. We too had a lady with a clipboard who wanted us in line with the non-priority passengers. Once we reached the next person and showed her our boarding information, she immediately sent us to the priority line.

I'm enjoying your review.
Probably the roughest seas that we have ever encountered was on the Carnival Legend in December 2011 when we were heading back to Tampa from Cozumel. We were in 10-12 foot waves. Dinner in the MDR for the late seating was cancelled because they couldn't keep the dishes on the tables. That was a crazy couple days.

I'm like you I usually take Dramamine the first two mornings of the cruise if I feel like I will need it. I never even took it out of my bag on this cruise.

I'd love to see some of your waves pictures....e-mail me at brianna1980@outlook.com

Thanks Again

As we were leaving Port Canaveral I took this next photo not even realizing what I was taking a picture of.....I think it is safe to say that it is a busy day of fishing at Port Canaveral

This is one of the reasons why I love going on a cruise out of Port Canaveral. The people at the restaurants and at Jetty Park who come down to see the ships off. This day was even more special because it was last time that people would be seeing the Carnival Dream leave Port Canaveral. It was pretty awesome. People had banners that said "Smooth Sails to The Big Easy"

After sail-away we figured it was time to head back to our cabin to see if our bags had arrived yet....and they were there so it was now time to unpack for our the next 9 days

For this cruise we were in a Modified Cabin on Deck 6 mid-ship. We LOVED this cabin.....I will have some pics of this cabin coming up soon in the review
just stumbled on this post, Betty did you and Steve enjoy the Fishlips?
Hi Dan we loved the "drinking and the atmosphere" however we had been there previously and found the food too greasy in general. This time we ate at Grills and loved the food. The drink prices were much higher there though. After we were done eating we joined the roll call for drinks at Fishlips :)

So after we unpacked we got ready for dinner. We had Your Time Dining in the Crimson Dining Room (this is the mid-ship dining room). Our first night in the MDR didn't go so well. We had arrived for dinner at 6:00 pm or so....we ordered and we sat and waited for over an hour to even receive first course. My dad got up and went to find the Maitre' D. We don't like doing that because the waiters work very hard but our waiter on this night was just standing around and then he would go missing for 15-20 minutes at a time. After this night at dinner we found another section with another group of waiters and the dining experience the rest of the cruise was absolutely wonderful.

If you eat in the Crimson dining room ask for Minor's section he was absolutely wonderful.

This is what I looked at for the first hour after I ordered dinner ;)

So as some of you may have remembered today was the Final Four in Dallas so they had the Final Four games on the Big Screen on Lido Deck. That was a lot of fun to watch the games under the stars.....even though my teams didn't win I was rooting for Florida and Wisconsin :( Oh well It was still a lot of Fun

This was our door decoration. We were in cabin 6358. I had pictures of all the ships that we have cruised on with the dates and the ports of call that we went to. Then I added a poster that said "Tell Me Why You Cruise with Carnival" with a place for people to put their Name, Favorite Port of Call, Favorite Carnival Ship, and Why they Love to Cruise.

I got some pretty interesting responses :p ;)

We headed to bed around Midnight after getting our first ice cream cone of the cruise :p

That is the End of our First Day onboard the Carnival Dream.....next up is our first Full Day at Sea :)

We thought that is why it had to dock at a different terminal was because of having to load more supplies for the repositioning cruise.

Our embarkation was AWFUL.....by far the worst we have ever experienced at any port. I am about to explain it in the next part of my review. It was dreadful

Different terminal was due to a different fuel used for cruising inland via river. Or, so I was

told by "man in White".
