darn, went looking at my "offers" and didn't see this rate... :(

although, maybe it is because I don't go into the casinos on the ships (or anywhere else for that matter) :)

According to the Funville Forums, someone called the OPC and found out that 1 point = $2.50 played in the slots and 1 point = $5 played in video poker, so you'd have to spend about $2500 in slot play (house money, your money, whatever) in order to meet the 10000 point requirement to be enrolled in OPC, which has to happen before you start receiving offers. IMHO, since I shudder at the thought of putting that much at risk, I'd rather buy my own drinks and cruise - because those "free" drinks = $3750 in play.

I though I heard they offer this to players club twice a year. I got the offer twice. The last one expired on 4-24. Used it to book our cruise next week. The deal was the best I have ever gotten. I only wish I could have booked more than one. My PVP said as long as the offer is on your VIFP you can book as many at that rate as you can.

Oh and came with casino credit too. Its only a 3 day so was $25

I got the offer but it was the old one that expired, called my PVP and I do have the new one, a slight discount and 75 cash. The comunication and ability to find out what you get online is almost imposible.

Carnival Players Club is a joke! I think they randomly draw names from a hat. By far the worst rewards program I have ever experienced.

That's not the case for everyone. We were offered two free cruises last year on BOTH of our numbers. We took ourselves and our kids for port charges/taxes only. The second one was an 8 day on the Breeze with connecting balcony rooms. It's been a GREAT reward program for us. ;):D

Horrible rewards program overall. Anyone that has gambled on Norwegian would agree! The casual low betting players are as likely to get the same or better rewards as the high rollers that are their bread and butter.

I have been getting the regular casino rate offers and the premier casino offers the past couple of years from Carnival; however, this year I have only received the premier casino offers. That's still all I see today.

I have a Carnival cruise already booked for September, but like some of the others have stated, it is looking more and more worthwhile to check out Norwegian since Carnival doesn't seem interested in my casino business.

This is not entirely accurate. First you are enrolled in OPC as soon as you spin the reels with your S&S card in the machine. I've never gotten to 10,000 points on any of my 32 Carnival cruises. Points do not roll over from one cruise to the next. I do generally get the On Us card by getting to 1500 points and I usually get it by day 3.

It is true that 1 point is the equivalent of $2.50 coin in, but I rarely take more than $50 to $75 a day of my money to play with. If I hit a good payout of more than twice what I put in the machine to begin with a keep 1/2 of it and play the other half back into a $1 machine.

I generally get to 5000 points by the end of a 7 day cruise, and my typical comps for my next cruise is the On Us card from day 1, some wine and $75 casino cash.

My sister gambles significantly less than I do, so she doesn't get as many comps or casino offers as I do. On our next Premier Casino Cruise in August on the Magic my rate code was PC2 and I get $500 casino cash along with all the other perks, Donna's rate code was PC3 and she gets $300 casino cash with all the other perks.

Our cruise rate did go down today and we got $30pp rate reduction against our balance due with final payment date of 5/20/2014. I usually pay my cruises off early but I'm going to wait until the last day on this one.

Janey you bring up some good points. Sometimes I think it would be easier to understand nuclear physics than the comp system most casinos employ. Many people fail to understand it is not how much you win or lose it is how long you play and your average bet.

The best advice I can give everyone is do not change your style of play just to get comps. Play at a level you are comfortable at and have fun. If you earn enough points to get something great if not at least you had fun gambling. There is nothing worse than to sit at a blackjack table with someone who is sweating every hand and moaning and groaning about every card that is dealt.

So in other words you may get 500-1000 off of your cruise then you lose 2-3000 in the casino. Good Deal!!

It is a good deal for those who would lose 2-3000 anyway. Throw in a drink card and it is a great deal.

Final payment for our Sunshine cruise is Thursday. Called today and the PZ1 code was on my cruise. 290.00 in OBC for the first room and 300.00 in OBC for the connecting cabin (our cabins are on the line from one category to the next, so that's the 10 dollar difference). Also a little casino cash. Happy!!! :D

Making up numbers doesn't make it truth. I've never spent 3000.00 of my dollars on a ship. Ever. We bring 400.00 a piece. We win more, then we can spend more. Sometimes we do, sometimes we don't. We lose it, it's gone and we're finished. We've been on a lot of cruises and all but two we've hit something of relative value. Husband won 2600 once and I won 1500 once. About half the time we've brought our entire 400.00 a piece back home, though we may have put any we won back in.

We've gotten two free cruises and five discounted with hundreds in casino cash. Casinos are basically a racket, otherwise they'd go broke. It's a game and we view it that way (gambling is illegal where we live, so it's the only time we play). But, we have six family members, so free rooms are a ton of money saved for us. You really shouldn't make stuff up and assume it's truth.

I've also sailed on NCL. You're right, it's a great deal, but Carnival's been good to us and been "good deals" on more than one occasion. Doesn't get better than free.

Kristi - what is your typical point range at the end of each cruise? You put in $400 and play until out of funds or the end of the cruise, whichever comes first? I would guess you pull out some winnings (which should come every once in awhile) and everything else converts to points as you win and lose thru play?

We are a family of 4 and paying premiums for our cabin (multiple voyages per year) is pricey. The wife and I enjoy our time at sea and we also only gamble while cruising (we are from NC.)

Just trying to understand what the "magic point level" is in order to see some benefits via the casino (which might still remain out of reach unless I can convince my wife it might be "worth it" to play a little longer (even if we are only breaking even), just to accrue more casino points.)

Note: we sailed on 6 (six) cruises last year and I called yesterday for a win/loss statement. Over the course of those 6 voyages, we only lost $551 (had a lot of fun for that loss) and did get drinks-on-us... But never anything more... Paid full fare for all those cruises, as none of them were early saver and all 4 of us sailed (paid by me.)

Now if I could figure out a way to get them to pay for my dog sitter, I'd REALLY be in business!!! ;-)

That's right, MarkandSandy. We take 400 for myself and 400 for my husband. We play until it runs out. If we win something, which is more often than not, then we determine how much of that we're willing to put back in, knowing that we will probably lose that amount. Some cruises it's been all of it, but on the ones where we had bigger winnings, we put our original 400 a piece back in the room and brought it back home, while playing whatever was left over from the win.

I'm not sure how they do the free cabins. There are some threads on the boards and some people who say they play penny slots and only play a couple hundred but have been offered a free cruise. We were offered our 10th and 11th cruises with Carnival as free cruises in the same year (last year), but had never been offered the free code before.

We've had casino cash on every cruise but our first two and have been offered the casino rate on the last 7 or so. The one coming up on the Sunshine is one of our larger OBC's to date. (they offered us cash back since final payment isn't due till Thurs but we opted for the OBC instead.)

Have you tried calling the Player's Club? Sometimes you have cash there that has nothing to do with a Casino rate. We've been offered casino cash, plus a fruit plate and gift even when there's no casino rate. Once we got 250.00 in casino cash and it had nothing to do with an offer. I have no idea how they come up with the numbers, though.:p

When I called for our win/loss statement yesterday, I mentioned that we were booked for a cruise leaving in less than 2 weeks (paid full fare again) and no mention or offer to even check for OBC or anything else. It seemed that the $551 loss wasn't enough to have her interested enough to check for or offer any OBC. :-(

Am I not aggressive enough in "point blank" asking, or (in your opinion) have I not reached the level of play that warrants awards? I played slots and did max bet on most every machine for hours, multiple days. Reached drinks-on-us by day 2 or 3, and hit some pretty big (comparatively speaking) jackpots on several machines and played it right back in ($400 payout on one machine) and no offers of anything.

One thing that might be messing me up - I booked multiple people under my original email address (senior citizens that aren't tech savvy, I managed their bookings for them, using my email address.) not sure if that might have skewed my account somehow, but I switched my email last year for my VIFP to my work email to see if that might help.
