I'm about to book an M6 and noticed only the rooms on deck 8 are available. I understand that the casino is on deck 7. Does anyone know if the smoke on casino will bother us on room 8118?

Probably because these cabins are really forward ... more wind, more noise, more movement, more walking ;)

Also look at cat. BX cabins (next to MX) ... 8110, 8112, 8710, 8712 ... these are the same size interior as the BA-BF cabins ... with a balcony about the same size as the M6-MX ... but the balconies are just set back a little :)

I just noticed BX.. I might book these instead since it's almost 900 cheaper. Thanks!

You are a long long way from the Casino. Not even a faint chance of smoke getting from there to any room.

Because when you do a fake booking on NCL.com it will show you "recommended" cabins. Those are listed in a group of up to 15.

there probably are more cabins than that, actually. they probably do not show all cabins on the website. But it does give you a decent idea at least

I wound up book the BX instead. If it's the same balcony size for lower price then that works for us.

Did you book BX with a specific cabin assignment 8112, 8110, 8710, or 8712? If you did, you're assured that nice large balcony. If you aren't assigned one of the 4 staterooms I listed, its a BX guarantee reservation and you could end up with the tiny balconies.

Here's a great picture of the BX balconies. They are the 2 cabins all the way forward:

The TA said NCL would assign cabins since this is just a guarantee. I mentioned if they could put in the notes to reserve a large balcony if possible since we have an infant. Crossing my fingers!

I was in 8122,no noise or smoke.Deck 8 is perfect for getting to 678 ocean place. The only negative is you are 7 decks from the pool.

Good to know. I actually don't frequent cruise pools. I'm not into the dining, shows and relaxing. Also my baby won't be able to go into the pool. We will probably bring an inflatable tub for him to play in.

  • 1 year later...
Lounger and more room; I would say Mini Suite so try a M6 Large Balcony.

The M6 balconies are right above the large sun hull art. Request a lounger from your room steward to enjoy the larger balcony. Don't book a regular balcony as they are really small (think the size of the surface of a lounger..).

Did you hear vibrations from theater below on deck 7

If you want a large balcony you need to call back and change your reservation. Your chances of getting one with a guarantee booking are very small. If you have specific cabin preferences you need to book a category that allows you to choose a specific room number.

Look into the B6 categories. They also have larger balconies with loungers. And then there are the "secret" slanted balconies that have loungers as well. Like 8138, a B2.

But it is confusing that NCL has BX balconies, like 4 of them only, right? Yet they will allow you to book a balcony guarantee which is also coded "BX."

You do need to call and cancel the guarantee and pick a specific cabin if the size of the balcony matters to you.

100% agree. Guarantee balcony will not get you the larger balcony room unfortunately.

Since they posted about a year and 8 months ago, they probably already sailed.
