photographers in main dining room

Another thread got me thinking.... what do you think about the photographers who come around while you're eating, and take your picture? This annoys me so much! We're eating, not having a photo shoot. This is definitely not something I would ever complain to Carnival about, and usually we politely decline, unless the photog catches us off guard, and then we pose and smile.

And like I said, it's not a huge deal, but it does annoy me that they're bugging us during dinner, in hopes we'll spend more money on pictures. opinions on this?

I find it irritating... and I usually try to ignore them, but sometimes they just won't be put off, especially if you are at a larger table with others and they have their picture taken... it's like they're saying 'everyone else is, why aren't you?'

Well buddy, if everyone else jumped off a bridge, well... you know the rest of the story.

Just go away if I politely say No Thanks and I make no further eye contact. Unless you want a serious episode of stink eye from me!

I hate it when the photographer and his Johnny Depp looking pirate roam around the dining room taking pictures with a knife to your throat while you are eating. Unnecessary.

I'm not crazy about it either. Seems like an inappropriate place for pirate pics.

Sent from my phone. Typos are inevitable.

On an NCL ship the photographer (no characters) asked if we wanted our photos taken. We did. Mine were horrible but he got the best pic I have ever seen of my daughter and her stepfather. You just never know if the picture of a lifetime may be snapped. It was worth the short interruption of our meal. (I do not even think we had started yet anyway.).

Just off the Carnival Breeze, and they were only there on formal night.

Glad to see I am not the only one. Before even seeing these post about the Pirate I started a thread today about the same thing I was on the Splendor recently and was given such a fright when this happened to me. Yet, so many people made nasty remarks in response to my thread you can see them by going to ( Carnival after cruise care ) I cannot believe that when someone writes their thoughts with all good intentions some people feel the need to get so nasty. Well, as they say you open your mouth and you are showing me what you are. I feel it is stupid to come up and scare someone that is getting on in years. And when I called Carnival to complain the rep I spoke to was outright rude to me. I was glad to read I am not the only one. Besides when I am sitting eating and enjoying my meal I do not appreciate this childish behavior.

I'm not a big picture taker, so they do annoy me. Random photographers DO NOT take your picture in land restaurants unless there's a very good reason for it. This doesn't count things like wedding receptions and special dinners for a public interest, where photographs and photographers are expected. It's fairly low on the annoyance list. I've found them easy enough to dodge and I do understand why they do it (insert sound of cash register ringing).

If you think its annoying just ask on the first day not to take pictures rest of the week... Its Vacations just go with the flow!!!!!

I don't understand how this could possibly work on ships as big as Carnival has. There are photographers at embarkation AND waiting on the gangway in ports AND hanging by the atrium AND by the casino, and probably other places besides. What do they do, take your name and cabin number? Do they take your photograph and pass it around to their buddies so they know not to take your photograph? That would seem to defeat the purpose.

So... how DOES this work? Please enlighten me.
