Lanyards/yes or no

I would not be caught dead with one around my neck.....looks like you are at a convention. I keep my key card in my pocket or a very small purse that is not in the way to carry around.

I'm not talking about a purse big enough to carry a toaster around......just something small.

We think lanyards are similar to wearing baseball caps in the MDR on a formal night (or any other night). Yes, you can do it....but it does look silly and classless. Ok, we know we will get flamed...but it is the way it is! Etiquette and class are words that have been forgotten in a time when many folks do whatever they please with no concern about decorum.

Honestly everyone has there own opinion. Cruising next week w teens and they won't be carrying pocketbooks as I won't. So I suggested lanyards so they won't loose their room key. I don't believe they look classless. I think they are practical and personally don't care what people would be offended if they come into ding room with a lanyard on their neck. I've been on 23 cruises and have seen people dress in jeans on formal night so as long as you don't look like a bum I'm all for it.

Oh, they give out free lanyards? (going on RCI) Because I thought I had to take my own, and I don't have any, so that's why the question; I didn't know if I should buy a few at the dollar store.

Last summer, DH and I took a lovely 3 day bus tour to Nashville, Tennessee. We were given lanyards with I think our name tag attached that identified us and the other 40 or so passengers on the bus as belonging to that tour company. DH and I wore them the first day and got familiar with the faces in our crowd. After the first day, we didn't wear them and felt very comfortable that we wouldn't get 'lost' or 'misplaced', but there were a number of people who wore the lanyards the whole trip. I actually thought it was adorable.

When on a cruise I do not want to carry a purse around with me. I wear a lanyard most of the time. Another thing is many of my outfits do not have pockets. This is a issue for females. Men always have pockets. I have made outfits for cruising and always include a pocket, even knitted wear. But it is a personal thing, so do what ever is right for you.

I have been on 16 Royal Caribbean cruises and have never seen them given out free. I have seen them for sale in the gift shop.

We always use lanyards. Very convenient. I don't trust pockets and I don't like carrying things around. (no purse or bag) We also have lanyards from our school affiliations, so it is a fun conversation starter. :-)

I used to use a lanyard when we cruised, but I got tired of having it fall into my plate at breakfast or lunch, etc. I now use a "badge reel" that has a retractable cord on it. I clip it to my waistband where it is out of the way, but handy when I need to produce it.

You can find them at most office supply stores, and even at some of the dollar stores.

Smooth Sailing! :) :) :)

AHOY SHIPMATES.

On ALL CARNIVAL ships the CASINO slots tech. and the Future Cruise Consultants have them. Other Carnival owned ships have them in the Casino also.

Lanyards are fine IMO you can get 1s for around your neck or that attaches to your belt. You can just have them punch a hole in it for you. Remember you will never see any of these people ever again its your cruise, and Lanyards are not classless that's a reach and a half, I wonder what these people think of the 400lb ladies in the Bikinis or all the other things you will see and hear on a cruise that will make you go OMG lol but its a cruise what happens on it stays on it or on cellphone video.

I know that Family Dollar in our area sells the sparkly lanyards.

I also wanted to say that if I wore a lanyard everyday to work, I, too, would not be using on on vacation!

If you wear one please be careful at the buffet so that your lanyard does not touch the food when you are reaching for something.....yes, I have seen this more than once.

Good point! I mean, I wouldn't want the bling getting covered in food! :D. Kidding, only kidding. I don't want other peoples lanyards/sea pass cards in the food.
