Drink Package Limit?

Do some of the Princess ships have a stocked mini bar? They did not on the Royal. They only had one large bottle of water and we had the cabin steward remove it.

I would not called it stocked, but there is usually bottle of H2O and some cans of soda, all there for purchase if you use them.

A friend of ours recently sailed on Carnival and found that there is a limit to their Unlimited Drink Package. She was told there was a limit of 14 drinks per day and that this was published in the fine print of the sign-up form.

After the 14th drink, they highlight the next friends of bill w

meeting in the patter for you.

I signed my wife's receipts many times. You can take both cards to a bar and get one drink on each card.
I brought both cards to the bar to show the two stickers, but they would put the two drinks on one ticket, "charged" to my card, so that I could sign for both of them. I'm a little concerned that they would let you sign for your wife. What is the point of signing, in that case? Maybe when the amount is $0.00 they don't have to be that vigilant, but I hope that they don't just let anyone charge anything to a card that is obviously not theirs (if you're signing for two different cards at the same time, at most one of them can be yours).

Occasionally they would put both drinks on one receipt, but not often. I wondered if it was improper training. It would be a major problem if both people had to go to the bar to use the package. But as you pointed out they should put both drinks on one receipt. Interesting that it was different on your Princess ship. What ship were you on. I was on the Royal Princess.

As you know each card has a place for a signature on the back except in the Casino I do not think they ever checked the signature.

I suspect the paper receipt is just a back up system in case they is a problem.

For having 14 bottles of water?

Well said Caribill. The drinks package includes a whole lot more then just alcohol.

My husband signed both our receipts many times or he had one receipt.I didn't have to go to the bar as well.In fact I don't recall in a whole week having to each sign a separate receipt.

Who would pay $49 per day, for the entire length of the cruise,

and use their 14 drink-per-day limit for bottled water?

And, you would have to be referring to the small bottles available on

Princess, as I don't think anyone can consume 14 x 1.5l bottles.

It would be cheaper to purchase 14 small bottles of water out-right

than signing up for the package.

We were on Star Princess. It happened just once that when I presented our two cards and ordered two drinks, the barman wanted to know where the other person was. I had to point them out across the room and have them wave back. Of course it could have been just anybody waving back, not necessarily the owner of the card, so it doesn't really prevent sharing/abuse of the package.

I must admit, a few times I did take two cards up to order two drinks for myself, but that's not really cheating.

There is no 14 drink-per-day limit.

The All Inclusive Beverage Sticker on Princess is Unlimited ... as many drinks a day as you wish. :D

Now I am really wondering if it was just improper training on the Royal. I find it very odd that I had to have two receipts most of the time.

Thanks

Ideally, I think they would like for each person to go the bar and order his/her drink individually. That way they could check each person's identity and keep track of how much he/she was drinking. Princess would love to have that sort of control, and to be able to collect that kind of data about people's use of the package so they can adjust the rules and prices in the future. The problem is, ringing up each drink separately and printing out two slips of paper each time is a hassle, so I guess the bar staff are authorized to combine orders when they can.

I don't know if they will ever eliminate the receipt entirely, since there is a small chance that you might write in an additional tip when you sign. But I'm sure this is also being monitored, and if it turns out that this only happens once every 100 times, maybe it's not worth the extra paper.

We are thinking about purchasing the Alcoholic Drinks Package for our Asian cruise in October. As we like to sit on the balcony in our own space and read, would it be possible to go the nearest bar and then bring the drinks back to our cabin. Many thanks for any information on this point.

No problem at all doing that.

We are definitely considering the drink package on our Regal cruise in December. I don't usually get the "drink of the day" but wouldn't mind trying some of them. Are they under $10 - I can't recall. Anyone cruised lately that could clarify?

Cheers!

Perhaps, but they have never checked by identity or signature on any cruise line when getting a drink. With the Celebrity drink package they just scan your card and input the drink to collect the data. As I said I suspect that this will be the case on Princess at some point. Since the tip on the receipt goes into a pool as cash tip is much more appreciated.

Yes, they are. Almost ever drink is below $10 including most of the wines by the glass.

I believe the drink of the day is available every day of the cruise :D On our recent Alaskan cruise, on most days they just picked a cocktail from the everyday menu and called it the cocktail of the day. And sold it for the regular price. I didn't really see the point…

Looking through the standard bar menu, I don't see any cocktails that cost more than $8.95. So all of them are included in the AI package, unless you ask them specifically to use a super premium brand of liquor instead of whatever the menu says.
