Is tonight a formal night and welcome aboard event?

I don't understand this question. This is day 3 already, so welcome aboard would have been a while ago.

Formal night was last night (Monday) and is again on Thursday (day 5).

Looking forward to hear what you have to say about the MDR food and service....there is a thread that's been pretty actively complaining about the MDR, and we plan to eat there the majority of the week! I hope the complaints are mostly just the people who will never be happy.

Service in the main dining room has been quite good. The worst that I can complain about it is that sometimes my wine glass got empty before it got refilled. #firstworldproblems

The food, on the other hand, doesn't interest me that much. I prefer the older menus. The current menus don't have items that appeal to me. That's one of the draws to specialty dining for me. I loved Samba Grill last night, and tomorrow's dinner at Izumi is sure to be equally as good.

Tonight was our comedy night. We enjoyed our experience seeing Robbie Printz and Jim David in the Comedy Live venue. Our group had lots of laughs.

I did get my rebate from Club Royale. I haven't yet asked about the upcoming changes to the casino program. We'll see what I can find out.

Tomorrow is Falmouth, Jamaica. We're planning on going to Hilton Rose Hall for the day. I've read good things about there and I'm looking forward to their lazy river. :)

Thanks Marc

Good news on the rebate, make sure you don't give it all back:)

Best of luck to you!

Happy Days!

Hilton Rose Hall Resort was nice. We spent time in the pool, drank at the swim-up bar, went down the water slides, and coasted around the lazy river. We had a pleasant lunch, too. It was very enjoyable.

We'll be having dinner at Izumi in half an hour. I figured that'd be a good time to watch our sail away from Falmouth. The view up there is quite good.

After that, it'll probably some time in Schooner Bar to have Ni serve us some Diamond drinks. Ni has been really taking good care of me! ;)

If you can could you let me know who the entertainer is in the Bow & Stern. I'm hoping it's still Jimmy Blakemore. He told me his contract is up in October and was wondering if my buddy was still there. Thanks in advance.

Let The Party Begin

We are also on this cruise. The singer in the Bow & Stern is Charlie Jourdan. He's very good.

It's $114. You pay $55 to reserve and then you pay $59 at the resort.

We are leaning towards this as well. What times did you arrive/leave there? I want as long as I can to get full money's worth. Was the process easy with Resort for a Day?

Resort for a Day....have never heard of this. Is it something available from the cruise line of from local vendors?

We were able to disembark at Falmouth at 10:30 (all times are ship time), I think. We boarded the JTL bus at 11:15, departed around 11:30 (waiting for no-shows), and arrived at the resort around noon. We then boarded the bus to go back to the port at 4:30, and got back around 5:00. All aboard time was 6:15 and we set sail shortly after 6:30.

The process was mostly easy except trying to find the Resort for a Day folks among all the excursion people in the white tents. The instructions that are on the order confirmation sent us in the wrong direction, but fortunately, we disembarked early enough to have plenty of time to find the Resort for a Day people.

It's been a quiet, yet slightly busy day so far. We had breakfast at Park Café, wandered the ship for a bit, tried some white sangria at Vintages (very yummy and refreshing!), and now I just had some chips from Park Café and a Diet Coke here on my Boardwalk Balcony. The view toward the aft is amazing as we're sailing through the water.

A few random notes:

  • They've been offering two hours of free internet for everyone (during specific 2-hour blocks) yesterday evening and this afternoon. They seem to be stress testing their new internet system.
  • Starting today, they're also offering a 2-day internet package for $69.95 (I think).
  • Bryan had a cappuccino from the Diamond Lounge today. He said it was quite good.
  • We didn't get the $30 wash-and-fold laundry bag automatically. You have to ask for it now on day 4.
  • Izumi did, indeed, change their menu and no longer offers the variety combination dinners they used to (including soup, tempura, sushi, hot rock, and dessert for one price). Now everything is separately ordered.
  • Since we had gone to or otherwise reserved four specialty restaurants (including Giovanni's Table for lunch on embarkation day), they automatically applied a 25% discount on our Izumi bill.
  • From what we've heard, the new Chops Grille menu and their desserts are disappointing. I'm going to find out for myself tonight.

We've got win-a-cruise bingo coming up in an hour. Maybe we'll be lucky! :D

So did you win another cruise at Bingo?!?

Interested in hearing your thoughts about Chops, and not happy about the changes to the Izumi menu, but alas, just like when home, i will survive!!

Thanks for your very insightful review

Cheers Happy Sailing ;)

Have there been any discussions on the upcoming changes on the Oasis class ships.

We all know what the Oasis of the Seas is doing, how about what will happen to the Allure.

Sea Ya

Also: Thanks for posting, nicely done.

Hilton Rose Hall sounds great, We have that booked on my birthday in January so it's great to get first hand reviews. :)

We are a family of 4 and were thinking of doing Hilton Rose Hall as well for our Sept 2015 sailing. However, at $114 pp (it's a bit over $450 for us 4) it's far too expensive to book through Resort for a Day. I called Hilton Rose Hall directly and was told I could book a night there even if I was only using it for the daytime and we would be allowed the same all-inclusive privileges as the guests, including food. The nightly rate for the cheapest room is $189 so definitely a HUGE savings. A cab to HRH is about $50 each way for us 4, so that's still a $165+ savings if we book through the resort. Just a thought for those considering booking HRH!!

I'm interested to hear when Captain Johnny is going on holiday. I'll be on Allure Dec 7th, I think he will be off ship then? I love him!!! He is very entertaining!!
