My wife Patti is a Disney fanatic, and we are a Disney family, having been to Disneyland, and Disney World more times than I can remember, staying on site many times. We have never booked a Disney cruise. Though the cost is a major factor, the deal breaker for me....... NO CASINO!!!!

I'm eager to read the rest as I sit with my snuggies on and have one hand in the popcorn bag (Skinny girl lime is awesome!)

Seriously, I want to do a Disney but can't quite take the plunge. Although, I hear the pixie dust is well worth it.

Another Disney fan here that always tries to stay on property where the magic is! I would love to take a Disney cruise at least once but the cost has always put me off a little and I'd definitely miss the casino! If my grandchildren really have to do a DCL cruise when they're a bit older, then of course I'll go for them...at least once! :)

OP, really looking forward to the rest of your review and your thoughts on CCL vs DCL ~ I've heard the Breeze is an amazing ship...hoping to try it in the not too distant future!!

Count me in on looking to see how Disney and Carnival compared for you. I've been on four Disney cruises, and the line is my favorite, hands down. On our Disney cruise this year, the youngest person in our group was college age, and we still loved it. However, I also enjoyed my Royal Caribbean and Carnival cruises very much (I benefited from that Carnival pixie dust - was magically upgraded from inside room to balcony!). For my upcoming cruise, I'm going by myself and booked Carnival because a Disney solo supplement would be well beyond my budget.

In reference to the difference in Disney & Breeze for embarkation - that's a Port Canaveral vs. Miami comparison. Port Canaveral is a great embarkation port whether your boarding the Disney Dream or the Carnival Dream (I know CCL's Dream isn't there anymore - just liked the way the comparison flowed). Miami is a much busier port and it does seem to be a bit chaotic.

Now finding someone kind enough to let you become priority is a different story - way to go!!

I love the casinos, and my daughter is grown, so I can't see me putting down the $$ for a Disney cruise, but you gotta love the whole Disney vibe! Looking forward to the review - I loved the Breeze & will be back on her in a couple of months.

Good morning!!!

For those who are wondering, I really am a major Disney addict!!!

I live, eat, sleep, breathe Disney! I also work very part time as a Disney travel agent, and help others with their Disney trips even if they just need more info. and I do not book their trip for them! I have even been trying to talk dh into moving to Florida! I hate the cold and am ready to leave PA!

Switching from Disney to Carnival was not an easy thing. I had also looked at Norwegian Getaway and RCCL Allure or Oasis. Getaway did not get as many good reviews as Carnival and they do not have cove balconies. RCCL was actually more than Disney!!! I was really concerned about how the service would be, if my kids would like their clubs and how clean the ship would be. As far as food goes I figured if the MDR was bad there were plenty of other places to get food on the ship.

In regards to our previous Disney cruises, we got amazing rates for those 2 cruises and that is is the only way we could afford them.

Back in 2009 we got 2 inside rooms for the 5 of us for $2900 for a 7 night western on the Magic. Then we re-booked onboard and bumped it out until the Dream was built, snagging 2 insides on a 4 night Dream for $1800.

And to those of you guessing our route, those pics. were def. taken on Rte 81 and 77. We always take the inland route when driving from PA to FL! The mountains are so beautiful.

Oh, and as far as casinos on the ship, we do not gamble at all! Plus I am allergic to cigarette smoke so there is no way I could even go in them if I wanted to.

Did you stay at Disney's Vero Beach on the way down? Where in Vero did you eat? We'll be there for two nights in Feb prior to our Breeze cruise.

We actually stayed at the Country Inn & Suites right next to the outlets. We were boring and just ate at the Bob Evans, my son had a free kids meal birthday postcard for there and the BE closed near us. The service and food was actually very good.

No time for the local beach this trip :( We usually go to a different beach every time we visit Florida but time didn't allow it this trip, but hey the beach in Antigua more than made up for it ;)

Getting that "Priority" stamped paper was shocking! I had no idea they even did such things.

Then when we were over there in line and they called Priority, we had platinum cruisers giving us dirty looks as they could see our red cards, and one huge guy (like 300 lbs) practically knocked me over (I'm less than 5 feet, 110 lbs) and said directly to me, you ain't getting on with that, good luck trying as he shoved me aside.... my smile quickly turned to a frown and hubby was not happy that I almost got trampled. So I stood there in shock for a few seconds til hubby finally said just keep going! They let us through and we catch up to that same guy and his wife, she looked mortified as she saw what he had done and said to me previously and she graciously allowed us to go up the escalator in front of her.

The ended up being seated near us one night in the dining room once on board and apparently he is just a rude person to everyone, judging by how he talked to the servers.

So this was our 4th cruise, 1st time on Carnival. We have cruised RCCL once and Disney twice. We would love to cruise more if we could!

Crew consists of me (celebrating my 40th birthday), hubby and 3 kiddos ages 15, 12 and 7.

We were originally booked to cruise on the Disney Magic for this same week but due to finances jumped ship to Carnival! We saved over 2k by going from a 7 night cruise on the Disney Magic having 2 inside cabins to an 8 night cruise aboard the Carnival Breeze in 2 cove balcony cabins.

Convincing my Disney family to switch to Carnival was not an easy task. We watched the Food network Guy Fieri special, I showed them videos of the ship and a video of the cove balcony to hubby(we've never had any type of balcony) and then I told them it was the Breeze or no cruise and they finally agreed.

So we booked this cruise in Aug. and I found out in Oct. that this was a Premier slot tournament cruise and that it was almost sold-out! Oh No! I thought the ship was gonna be packed with people, we'd be stuck in long lines and we were all gonna hate the cruise!!!

So we hit the road to drive from PA to Miami, FL on 11/6. The 1st day we drove to Columbia,SC to stay overnight.

Driving to Fla every time, I know this stretch of road all too well.

So where were we...oh yes, we are boarding! Since we are on deck 2 I say lets go check our rooms before we grab lunch(it's around 12:30 at this point)! We did and they were ready! Woo-hoo...I am now super excited to see the balcony! I had watched this video

before I booked our rooms. We were booked in this same room, 2283, and 2281 next door. That way we could have the balcony divider opened up. Now we always book 2 rooms....reason being my husband snores worse then a freight train rattling a half block past our house! Which I should know as we live a half block from the RRX in a small town in PA.

I'm exactly the same! I would never stay off-property at WDW, but I just can't seem to justify the cost for a cruise. They seem to be Deluxe-level only on DCL, and have forgotten that there are many people who like to stay at the Moderate or Value resorts! I wish they had cruise cabins that were the equivalent of Port Orleans Riverside, instead of interiors at Polynesian prices, and balconies that make the Grand Floridian look cheap!

Looking forward to your review! I'm interested to see if we've been missing out by using Carnival for our cruises.

We LOVE Port Orleans Riverside. We've stayed all three levels at WDW, but we just always seem to gravitate back to POR! And I think you are right about needing "Value" or "Moderate" cabins on the ships!:D

So in comparing our rooms, we loved the inside rooms on the Disney Dream as we had the magic portholes, the kids really enjoyed them.

BUT the cove balconies win hands down!!!

We are all pretty fair skinned and I enjoyed having a balcony that was not in full sun and that was so close to the water. It was just amazing. I joked that I wish I had brought an air mattress with us to put out on the balcony so we could sleep there at night. We did bring along bungee cords to hold the balcony doors slightly open at night so we could hear the ocean. We were lucky to have calm seas for the entire trip.

As far as beds go, the Disney Dream beds were amazing, it was like sleeping on a cloud and I wanted to bring one home with me! The ones on the Breeze were fine, but not luxurious at all and you could feel the crack in between the twin beds that were put together as a king.

I well know I-77 and I-81, driving from near Savannah to visit my sister in Macungie. I will do anything to avoid driving near Washington, DC. You need to discuss a move south with her...As she just six months ago moved down to live with me. We do not shovel snow here...EM

Great review so far. You really lucked out getting the Priority stamped boarding pass. Combined with your red cards, that is part of the 50.00 upcharge for FTTF. You were also able to use the same priority pass to get to your cabin @ 1230. This is usually reserved for Diamond and Platinum cruisers as well as those cruisers who have FTTF.

FTTF was sold out and I did mention to the guy who helped us that I had tried to get it. so maybe that helped.

As far as the rooms go we were right next to the elevators so we just went right in ;)
