Royal Princess Piazza

We enjoyed several programs in the Royal Princess's fabulous Piazza during the latest ten day. It is a great and unique entertainment venue. The sound and excitement of the performers brings passengers to the rails multiple decks high to enjoy the show.

So why oh why does Princess allow the photo gallery to take up twenty feet of prime rail space one deck up from the performers to extend their selling space?? This is not part of the design as it is a temporary setup with folding tables. Nevertheless, from the second day on, the photo staff clogged the area hawking GoPros and the like while compromising passenger access to the entertainment.

We were on your cruise and found the area you refer to as a perfect place to see the shows in the Piazza when we arrived a little too late to get a good place elsewhere near a railing. We (and several other people) just kind of ignored the photo people and walked behind their table to watch the shows. There was plenty of room right at the railing and the photo people disappeared during the shows.

I find this space to be ridiculous for entertainment. That's what theaters and club space is for.

I don't mean to be disagreeable, just want to disagree with your comment. We thought the piazza was a great place for entertainment, DW and I even danced through the area on one of the upper decks, listening to a great combo playing. We thought it was just a kind of extended Crooners.

Actually it works very well for the right kind of entertainment. The trick is that the CD has to be careful what they schedule where to avoid impinging on other activities.

Because the Royal lacks other venues the Piazza is overused for passenger participation entertainment, AND non entertainment activities such as dancing instructions. Also found that since Piazza activities go on later into the evening, Crooner's piano lounge doesn't start until 10/10:30pm.

We also LOVED the piazza for entertainment.

We expected to hate it but found it just drew you in.

We found ourselves dancing many evenings when we had no plans to.

There was plenty of other entertainment in other venues of the ship also. There was dancing in the Vista Lounge, lots of music in the Wheelhouse, game shows in Princess Live and main shows in the Theater.

Honestly not as much of a problem as I thought it would be, the extra area in the back for passenger services helps spread out the load a bit. Only time I really noticed an issue was peak dining. And this was on the Canada run so there were no outside venues even available.

Like photo backdrops and table sales.

Agreed. We had lunch one day in Alfredo's and could not talk with each other due to a LOUD contest going on in the Piazza.
