Help with suite choice on the Star

We are just in the process of booking the Star this summer cruising the Baltic Capitals. I am looking to book 3 suites and need some advice on which ones to pick. I am trying to decide between the "Aft-Facing Penthouse with large balcony" (SF) or the "Penthouse with large balcony" (SE)or the "Penthouse suite with balcony" (SG). The SG is the most expensive, about $300 more per person than the cheapest which is the SF.

I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions? I would appreciate any input.

thanks!

We really like the location of the suites on deck 12. They are the newest and have fantastic bathrooms compared to the aft or far forward penthouse suites. My vote would be for the SG. I think there are only 4 of them on the Star. The SJ's without a balcony on deck 12 are our favorites and quite a bargain. The Star will be going into dry dock in March so maybe the older suites will get a bit of a refresh, but I doubt they will get the same size and quality bathrooms as the suites on deck 12.

Stats - 10/20 NCL STAR Panama Canal Suite 12012 Starboard

Adjacent suite 12010 is a mirror image.

ONLY -2- suites STARBOARD deck 12 with Balcony.

Suite has a covering over the deck but wind driven rain weather can intrude.

PORT side 12510 & mirror image 12512 are the ONLY Balcony cabins Port.

24 cabins on deck 12 forward 4 are balcony - 20 are NO balcony but with

square footage floor space the same as the balcony ones (floor to ceiling

windows * some in need of replacement as they are permanently fogged).

Deck 12 Suites over the bridge (deck 11) do not have balcony but floor to

ceiling windows.

Suites on Decks 9 & 10 FORWARD have balconies * caution possible wind

and weather hazards also restricted (lighting) use at night - proximity to bridge.

Suites on Deck 10 AFT smaller with balcony.

Suites on Decks * 8 & 9 some have wrap around balconies * but limited

mobility small working space no deck furniture on the sides.

Might pose a small problem with an AFT balcony with soot and careless

cruisers on higher decks not keeping their food and beverages in check.

Should not be a serious concern but a but !

A picture is worth a heck of lot words and explanation - suggest you go to this LINK:

Join this program for a fee and then you can search further for photos of the

suite staterooms that have caught your eye. Program is good for all cruise

lines and ships with useful data to square footage cabin arrangement etc.

If you have not done so - check to see if there is Roll Call for your cruise and

tag along there for more useful information.

Hint if you can get along without a balcony you can save a lot bucks. On deck

12 forward just a quick sprint up 1 deck (13) and you have your head out in

the ocean breeze.

Hope others will join to give you a better idea of the suite life.

Hi there - We were on the Star:

Cabin 9500 aboard the Star is darker than they depict. When they say it's 500 sq feet they are including a 200 sq foot balcony deck. So the room is not as big an airy as it shows online. Keep in mind you cannot sleep with your door open, or curtains open at night because this cabin is forward right under the bridge. The view is great but at night the bridge crew needs to see at night and light coming from your room prevents that. You can feel the motion of the ocean forward more than if you have a mid-ship cabin. This cabin is right above the Stardust Theater. You can hear all the music and performances that they practice if you go to bed before 10 PM. You can feel the boom boom boom. We got used it.

But the perks were great and the views during the day were amazing.
