No problems on Allure either. $500 twice.:).

Great to hear. We'll be on Allure in two weeks. Did you get the money directly? Or did you get some kind of voucher and had to redeem that for cash?

Five nice crisp $100 bills.

Sorry, my post was confusing. I meant, what was the process for taking money out at the casino on Allure? Did you have to do it in 2 steps (with a voucher or something like that)? Or do you just give them your sea pass card and told them what you wanted, and they gave you cash?

Has anybody tried to purchase OBC lately? Any idea what the current RCI exchange is? I assume it's still a better deal at the bank!

Most recently was posted early this week and it was still higher than the banks at 1.50? I think was the number. If you call C&A and get it for cheaper please come back and post. Would love to hear 1.10 again but would take 1.25

No vouchers. Just gave them my Seapass and asked for $500 (daily maximum) and they handed me $500 cash. No fees as I had set up a cash account and then on day 5 I gave guest services my credit card info so checkout would be easier.

On our recent, March 7th Anthem cruise the casino cashier would only give me non-cashable slot vouchers or table chips when we got money from the OBC in our onboard account. This was a cash account so no 5% fee was charged. They stated that this was now the standard procedure for casinos on RCI ships.

To get cash I had to ask for a non-cashable slot voucher, then put it into a slot machine and then cash out to get a cashable voucher. What I also did was add a small amount in cash to change the amount slightly, again without playing the slot and then gave the cashable voucher to DW to cash out.

The latter part is up to you as I didn't want to chance any hassle with getting our cash. Other have reported no problems with just inserting the cashable voucher into the slot and taking the cashable voucher in the same amount back to the cashier for their cash only a short time after getting the non-cashable slot voucher.

They specifically asked about Allure which as of last week was not using vouchers.

Yes, I saw your post made while I was typing mine.

As usual information on RCI cruises, although the casino is operated by an outside organization which may change depending on the ship, is not always consistent. Like I mentioned the cashier told me that the non-cashable slot vouchers and table chips was now the standard procedure for onboard account draws in casinos on RCI ships which came down from RCCL head office. On our B2B Freedom cruises in late October we were able to get cash outright in the casino to use up our OBC.

I had read about the non-cashable vouchers and chips here on CC so I wasn't surprised to encounter that on Anthem. I also knew from that thread the way around these to get cash and not having play their games in more than one way. :D

I'm wondering if the ships that are using the vouchers are just using the phrase "standard practice on ell Royal ships" so that they don't have to deal with potentially upset customers if they said that it was just a ship specific policy. Seems to me there are more ships still doing cash than are using the vouchers. You mentioned Freedom and I have been on Oasis and Allure and they are all still doing cash.

I really don't know why they are bothering with the vouchers as like you posted there is such an easy workaround.

Unfortunately as time goes forward this will no longer be an issue as I'm sure most are sailing soon on cruises that they had OBC booked on. My last OBC at the great rate was used last week. Hopefully the $ continues to improve. At this point I'd be happy at the 80 cent mark.

first time cruiser here and no time casino dweller. How do you go about adding a small value. Right at the slot machine do you add cash?

Thank you! This is exactly what we are planning on doing and am happy to hear that on Allure, it was a one step process, and easy to do with no issues.

I did the same thing on the Allure last week. I was told that $500 is the daily maximum for cash accounts, but it is $3000 for credit card accounts (but they have a 5% fee). Also note that I had no problems getting cash from Guest Services when I changed my account to a credit card account (Day 5 was well).
