babycutie Posted January 15, 2018 #3726 Share Posted January 15, 2018 We recently acquired the Home Trust credit card. Haven't used it as yet but soon will. Easy application process. How long did it take from application to receiving the card?

I guess there's no time for me to get the card:( If you could phone in the application (some companys will do this) you could ask them to courier the card and you could have it in 5 days. Just a thought.

Also I wish we could purchase the drink packages etc now online in usd because in canadian it seems to be over 30% exchange Check the rate as you are about to set sail. Since Royal sets their rates once or twice a year, the prevailing rate could be better for you, even though you will incur the 2.5% conversion fee with the credit card. If you decide to get charged in USD, there should be a place to indicate that on your sign and sail documents and then also make sure you mention it again to the check-in agent at the pier. On a Princess cruise, we asked them to charge us in USD even though we had booked in Canadian because we were using a USD visa. They still charged us in Canadian on the USD visa so I had to pay the unfavourable conversion and the 2.5% on top of that. I was very unhappy! Ourusualbeach Posted January 16, 2018 #3736 Share Posted January 16, 2018 Received our letter today confirming the closure of the Marriott visa as of March 15th. The only good new is that the annual fee is being pro rated to reflect the closure date and that they are still awarding the annual free night effective March 15th. We still haven’t received notification about our Amazon card.
patreke Posted January 17, 2018 #3737 Share Posted January 17, 2018 I am thinking I should go get the mail! I should look into the Home Trust one shortly, as we have transatlantic booked in April. Thanks for the link, I hadn't heard anything.

I used a TD bank US visa last Sept on the Radiance and and the amount of my bill was what I was charged when the statement came - NO extra conversion fees. Think someone made a mistake on your bill. I keep a US dollar account (TD calls it a borderless account) just for any US purchases and find the arrangement works well.
c'mon Posted January 18, 2018 #3745 Share Posted January 18, 2018 I need to exchange cash for the trip, I was told the train station gives better rates than banks. We have an exchange center in our mall and a casino. What's your experience? Thinking maybe I'd just put cash on my sail account then won't have to worry about being charged in Canadian

I had the SPG Amex and got rid of it because so few places I shop accept Amex. I’m really bummed this card is going away. We use it all the time and have had a lot of free nights.
