Eclipse in Dry Dock

If you go to Celebrity's website for the Eclipse it has a drop down menu for deck plans from April 2015-2017.

It shows both Gastropub and Cellar Masters.

It kind of shows Cellar Masters in the passageway, maybe it is a joint venture in the same space.

It looks like the Molecular Bar is listed in bars but where it is on the ship there is an unnamed bar depicted.

I'm gonna be really bumming if that Molecular Bar is not on the Eclipse next year when we go.

Sad to report the Molecular bar on the Eclipse is gone. I was on the March 29 cruise (the last one before dry dock) and on the last night they started to dismantle the bar. I spent most evenings there and am sorry to see it gone. Apparently a very high end bar will be put there according to the bartenders that were at the Molecular. Some of the drinks being sold there won't even be covered by the premium package.

The construction of the suite dining room was started when I boarded the ship and was being worked on during the cruise. No real issues, except the occasional sounds of sawing, etc., but for the most part you wouldn't know it was being done if you didn't notice the curtained off area and only one entrance to the deck 3 dining room.

They did curtain off a part of the buffet area, near the entrance on the left side (when facing the buffet). No one seemed to know what was going there and I was wondering if it might be the new frozen drink bar (I can't remember the name of it). I asked a couple of wait staff but they didn't know what was going there.

Thanks for the update . We are on Reflection in September and Eclipse next April .Obviously the Molecular Concept will be functioning on Eclipse - does anyone have an update on other ships post Molecular Bar ? Obviously the Premium Beverage Package will be further degraded if they will require extra payment for drinks there. Sadly , no surprise.

Luminae did not affect our MDR dining experience on Solstice so that was positive.

Thank you Celebrity:) We really enjoyed the Gastrobar on the Equinox (esp the cheese soup). It was a wonderful place to go and relax and have a pint. Please keep the draught's on tap! I like the food and don't mind the surcharge as it is the only place you can get the special plates on the ship. We found the large plates excellent for sharing.

I think the gastropub on Equinox was an improvement on Cellar masters (always empty on European crusies), the only problem was it was not converted to be more like a pub/tavern, it would have been good to have good beers on draft ( and included in the Classic package- would get more custom from me)

entertainment would also have been good (pub singer , comedien etc)

similar to the pubs on RCI and other lines.

The passport bar is in a large communal space, so not sure how converting to the gasropub will help.

I had not heard that, very interesting...... So will it remain Cellar Masters?

No Cellar Masters is not going to be converted (source: second highest source on the ship, work it out). Feedback suggested it would be an expensive flop with the UK market and ignored by the Americans.

  • 1 month later...

That menu is out of date. I have mine from our Eastern Caribbean (Mar 27/15) cruise on the Equinox but I marked it up with personal notes so I can't really upload it. Most of the food items have doubled in price: the Pork Buns are now $6 (3) & the Grilled Local Sausages are $10 (5). The Housemade Burger went from $7 to $12. I didn't see a lot of people eating. The Gastro Bar was only open while at sea like the casino. The main bartender Santos was great & if I asked for a beer & he didn't have it (he would tell me the next time that if he now had it in stock). Every time I walked by the Gastro bar I picked up a beer to stock our stateroom fridge to enjoy in private on the balcony. The first sea day they didn't have draft until much later & then only 2 lagers: Stella & Heineken - never saw a dark beer like Guinness on tap. The beer selection in bottles seemed to favour IPA's & Belgian & there were 15 with ABV of over 6% & another 6 that were over the $13 limit on the Premium Package so that cut down the selection for me by half. I would like to see more European pilsners. It was a popular place at night especially before & between shows but it could be noisy as the there was a band playing right below in the Atrium. Hope that this info is helpful.

Was the foo d worth the price

Sorry, but I didn't eat there - it was a beer destination for me. The portions looked a good size though. I would use it as a treat/snack place in future depending on my meal time schedule. There is another comment earlier in this thread (from another Canadian) who said that the Smoked Cheddar Ale Soup for $6 was a better deal than the Bistro on 5's cover of $7. I would not agree with that. Except for the slow service at Bistro on 5 U get salad & coffee with your panini or crepe. However, U would not get the beer choices so that is the trade off & that is what U get with cruising - choices. On the Sapphire Princess there is a sit down pizza dining experience on the 5th deck (Alfredo's) - it was good + free if I remember right. Better than the pizza at the buffet.

When we were on Equinox this year, the place was never busy. At those prices who would really buy. You could add $30+ and get a full meal in the Specialty Restaurants. Going on Eclipse in November and can't wait to see what the new prices are. LOL

Just got off Summit. They are charging $10 for Bistro on Five now. Booked 2 cruises but was never told about overnights that are now new. Did get e-mails from our TA though

Summit is going in for a refurb in January, don't know about Eclipse.

They at this time are not putting in the Gastro pub .It has not been received well on equinox so the project is not going forward

Just got off Equinox and Gastro Pub did not seem to be doing well. Bunch of guys watching sports (golf) and drinking beer. Never saw anyone eating

the little bites. Yet, I think it could be better than the wine bar it replaced, though we never did too much there either except try some new wines...not spending time conversing with others.

Cellarmasters is pretty well exactly the same as it was on Eclipse. The Gastrobar which is also the Passport Bar on deck 3 did serve food although I never one witnessed anyone having it. Why pay there when it's free elsewhere I guess. Eclipse is looking fantastic though [emoji3]

Well I will check it out in Dec on the Eclipse

We are going on the Eclipse in March/16 - would love to hear your report. As I have stated previously - use the Gastro pub as U like - that's what Cruising is all about - my only concern is that it is very close to the Grand Foyer where the music can be LOUD.....

They did take the machines out of cellar masters. Put in high tables and chairs and removed the doors. Gastro in passport added in the fridges but we also did not see anyone order food

They also widened the entrance area to Cellar Masters on Eclipse making the whole area more open .... and it had more people using it while on the TA last month than I have seen before....a pleasant surprise!
