Arriving Barcelona 14:30, doable?

Well, due to work commitments, if we book the very nicely priced 6 day from Barcelona we would have to get this flight.

Arriving at 14:30 at Barcelona airport, then let's call it half an hour to the cruise port.......

Anyone been that brave? Want to scare me off? Should I go for it and get an extra cruise in this year????

You can't be serious as a seasoned CC'er doing this :D right ??

Do you have VIP escort thru the airport and transportation to the pier, assuming flight is on time and there are zero delays in the air & on the ground ? Sailing time is 18:00 and all guests must be onboard by 16:00 and assuming your aircraft will be wheels on the tarmac early/on time & at the gate with the jetbridge connected, you have 90 minutes to complete it all - feeling lucky ;)

What is your plan B in the unlikely but possible travel disruption in your planning ? You do plan to purchase premium or deluxe trip interruiption insurance, correct ? There is a subtle but very distinct difference between being brave and foolish - you decide :p

IMO, I won't do it - if you transportation get flat-tired and you are denied boarding, do you feel like skipping ahead to the next port on Day 3 ?? - assuming that you can book & fly out that evening or the next morning, etc. (that's 2 nights extra on dry land or 2 fewer days at sea ...)

Pretty sure you already know the answer to this besides "are you nuts"?

Yikes!!! I thought we were ever-so-slightly crazy in 2013 when we flew into Venice the day of boarding! AND we flew on the first flight out of Manchester at 6:30am.........but were delayed 2 hours because Venice was fog-bound!

My nerves were absolutely shattered.......never again!!

Which 6-day itinerary is this? I see one in September (but it has a departure time of 5pm from Barcelona), and the New Year's cruise (which doesn't look that cheap to me).

If it's the first one, you might consider planning to join the cruise on Day 2 in Cartagena (fly to Murcia or Alicante).

I wouldn't do it, but you have until 17:00 to be on board. That allows you 2:30 to gather luggage, and get to the pier. It can be done, and if you have no checked luggage would probably save :30. it is really tight and a recipe for disaster.

I did think that wouldn't be a great idea haha

I was just trying to reason with myself that I could manage one more cruise.

It's the September 20th from Barcelona ending in Southampton. Right now I can find it for £289 inside which is the cheapest NCL European itinerary I've seen. Plus, I really want to go on epi

Would there be any penalty (other than missing dinner) for joining the ship in Cartegena?

It is possible. I say this after my initial response of "no way".

As the poster below notes, there is a bit more room in the plan than most cruises.

First, he is flying from UK - not the states.

Next, since this is in Spain, the whole security thing is not so over the top. And, sailing time is at 6pm, and not the often normal 4pm.

A bit crazy - yes. But surely possible.

I now carry on in Europe is tight, but if you can do that and avoid checked luggage, that will easily gain you 15 minutes, or worse.

According to the website, the departure time for this cruise is 5pm, not 6pm.

I don't think so, and I doubt you would be the only one starting the cruise a day late… I would give NCL a heads up so they don't wait for you in Barcelona (not that they would) and maybe even ask about a reduction in your cruise fare/fees/service charges (you never know).

Done BCN a lot from the UK,

For a 14:30 landing it will be VERY tight.

If flying BA with hand luggage(23kg), no checked bag collection

Port by 15:30 is possible

What about the 7n trip back to BCN in OCT, USA prices are same/cheaper than the 6 day.

Provided your plane is not delayed in the least as well as a fast passport customs check getting a Taxi is not a problem, they are lined up as far as you can see at the airport...Traffic however will play a factor on getting to the port..

Don't risk it its to much of a gamble...

I always arrive a day early...

Even though my flight will arrive at 7am I still won't risk a same day fly in..

Why not go for BALCONY from: £434

..............although.............

When I click thru that £289, it says £399 for the inside though (assuming you're looking at the same cruise website as I am)?
