Wow. Just...WOW. I have literally been reading your review & looking at all the pics for over 3 hours now!! This is amazing... Thank you so much! Best review on this cruise i have found! DH and I are doing this same trip in September. I was excited before... But now I am BEYOND excited and September seems even further away!! I'm ready to go now! This will be our first cruise and first time to Alaska. Thank you SO much for doing all this - it's fantastic! :)

Great work on all of this.

Keith

Lou, I agree with Keith 100%.

I just finished reading this and want to thank you for taking the time to being this cruise to life for us with the great photos. Excellent food porn! Besides one messy soup bowl everything looked appetizing-I hope the flavor was there too.

Thanks for the tips on adding the descriptions to the food pics.

I did that White Pass train ride in Skagway in 2011 but in the opposite direction-bus first then train back, standing on the deck at the back of the train. It was drizzling but that only made it more atmospheric.

Thanks again-looking forward to your next cruise pictorial !

Do you have a next cruise in mind already?

We have two cruises booked for this fall, but not with Celebrity. We have Norwegian Escape November 28th, 2015 and then right after Norwegian Getaway December 6th, 2015.

Thank you and everyone else for all the kind comments...it just encourages me to do it again.

I have done a lot of research in anticipation for our first cruise ever, on the Solstice to Alaska, leaving 8/21. Your photos and description is, by far, the most helpful and insightful guide. The amount of effort it took just to photograph what you did -- never mind the time to upload them and add commentary -- is extraordinary.

Thank you very much! You provided us with a beautiful and amazing guide!

Loved your pictures. We sail on the Soltice on the 28th of August. Looking forward to it. Was wondering if you recall, does the Soltice still have the amenities in the bathrooms, like shampoo, cream rinse, etc. Trying to keep the weight down in the luggage. I recall they had a pretty good product in the balcony staterooms. How was your weather in July in Alaska? We were there in 2006 and it was wonderful. Doesn't look like the ship was really busy when you checked in. We too got the message not to go to the terminal until around 2 pm. That is pretty crazy, we are always on the ships by 11:30 or so. Thanks for the information and your pictures were awesome.

Yes the bathroom had Shampoo, Cream Rinse and Hand Lotion. DW thought they were good quality, much better than any other cruise line balcony cabins we've stayed in.

Weather was very nice, Rain when we were in Tracy Arm Fjord and when we first arrived in Juneau. But it stopped once we got off the ship so Rain was not a problem during excursions. Everyone in Ketchikan kept commenting on what a special day it was because it was not raining when we were there.

Here is a weather breakdown.

Seattle before and after cruise very hot, heat wave at the time

Ketchikan: No rain warm 72 F (22 C)

Juneau: Rain in the morning 70 (20 C)

Skagway: Cloudy 60 F (16 C)

The Solstice is my favorite ship. I think we have been on her 4 times now. We will be back on Solstice May 2017. What great photos. I loved seeing the Chihuly Garden and Glass. I've only been their once. As I live in Seattle. I'm must go again.

Wow! My husband and I plus another couple took this exact cruise in May 2014. I really enjoyed taking a walk down memory lane with your awesome photos. Thank you for your hard work and sharing with the class! We leave in seven days for an 11-night cruise out of Istanbul and your pictures have made me even more eager (how is that possible??) to start another fantastic cruise. Thank you again!!!
