shugey Posted July 8, 2015 #1 Share Posted July 8, 2015 This year NCL changed their cancellation and payment schedules for all clients booking in garden villas and haven suite categories. They are now almost double than other categories on same ship and generally 6 weeks more than other cruise lines. 120 days prior to departure payments are due and the first 25% percentage of cancellation penalties kick in for refundable amount. Personally we will be moving our business elsewhere whenever possible. Has anyone else come across this as feeling it is a bit extremely more punitive. :)

There's a far greater impact on the line's cashflow if a $10,000 cabin is suddenly given back and they only have 60 days to re-sell it. .
Leavethekidswithmom Posted July 8, 2015 #4 Share Posted July 8, 2015 It use to be 100 days. No big deal, plan accordingly.

It may also prevent people booking multiple, overlapping, cruises while they decide which one they're actually going to take.
BritChickBN1 Posted July 8, 2015 #6 Share Posted July 8, 2015 No problem here. You can always book a non-haven suite on the older ships if you are looking for perks & flexibility.
watchdiva Posted July 8, 2015 #7 Share Posted July 8, 2015 No problem with their policies.
StolidCruiser Posted July 8, 2015 #8 Share Posted July 8, 2015 I don't find it a problem nor do I find it a bit extremely more punitive in the slightest.
zqvol Posted July 8, 2015 #9 Share Posted July 8, 2015 The only problem I see is that OP is complaining about nothing.
DMH15 Posted July 8, 2015 #10 Share Posted July 8, 2015 I too have no problem with NCL's policy. Especially with the GV.

brookie848 Posted July 9, 2015 #13 Share Posted July 9, 2015 I told my husband about this thread last night at dinner and he laughed. :D We honestly don't see where 20 days makes that much of a difference to a consumer and if you are concerned about cancelling, that's why you should purchase insurance. FYI, don't take your business to Disney cruise line because their suite deposits are 20% of the price and non refundable. ;)
AtlantaCruiser72 Posted July 12, 2015 #15 Share Posted July 12, 2015 If they think this is bad they should look at booking a suite on a Disney Cruise. ALL deposits are 100% non-refundable. NCL are obviously seeing too many cancellations close in that are negatively impacting their ability to resell the suites. By making the penalty more strict they run less risk of speculative bookings and when cancellation occurs a larger window to resell the space. I think it's a smart move.
