Diamond question

Recommended Posts

We finally made it to Diamond status, and we'll get to enjoy it on our 12-nighter on Anthem in November.

If I am registered in 1 room, and my wife the other room, and then both of our girls (over 21) are split between the rooms, will our daughters be eligible to join us in the Diamond Lounge for breakfast and evening social and/or get the 3 free drinks per night?

Also, any other Diamond goodies not advertised on the C&A site?

Thanks.

They only allow Diamond status in lounge. They may not check, but it is posted.

Nice perk if you drink, 3 free drinks each evening. If in lounge it is unlimited drinks. Various discounts on purchases. There are more, but that is all I think of for now!

Seems it is different ships/different rules or different concierges/different rules. On paper, RCCL does not give status to a cabin mate.

I had experience with a cabin mate (grown daughter) who did not have my status . She was D, I was D+ and she was not permitted to join me in the Concierge Lounge. Her denial was announced very loudly so anyone inside could hear. The lounge was occupied by just a few folks and she was not drinking alcohol so it was not a crowding or drink issue. It was the only time I asked for some special consideration since I read on CC all about folks having family members join them in the lounge but have never asked since .

Not that I am advocating breaking the rules, but the continental breakfast time is rarely crowded so I can't imagine that would be a problem. The evening social could be a different issue.

Good luck

Your spouse is the only one that will be the same status as you. DW went on a cruise with girl friends that put her over D+ and we were both considered D+ on our next cruise together.

Doesn't matter if they are in your cabin or one of their own, if they are not Diamond in their own right, they are not entitled to any Diamond benefits. If you go to a bar, you can probably get them a drink off the three loaded on your card.

Once the children hit the age of 18 they are no longer entitled to share their parents status and their status that they had at 18 is where they start to accumulate their own points. Since your daughters are over 21 they are on their own and not entitled to share your benefits.

I just want to be clear in case someone is confused by this. A child that turns 18 keeps whatever C&A level they have at that point, even if they don't have enough points on their own to warrant that level.

Thanks Bob, Some times I confuse myself. :D

You can definitely get them a drink off the 3 that are pre loaded. You are given 3 each evening and RCCL does not care how they are used. We became friends with some new cruisers on the last cruise and "treated" them to a few drinks.

enjoy

To agree with Bob, our three adult children attained Diamond status through us prior to 18 and are still Diamond. Bob, will their spouse now also get their Diamond status and same with grandchildren once they cruise?

Yes, their spouse will get their C&A level, and then the granchildren if the rules stay the same.

I'm a Diamond on Royal.....so when I cruised last time on Celebrity they automatically gave me Elite status. My uncle who was in my cabin and had never cruised before was given Elite perks because we were cruising together. He got three free drinks a night and went to all the Elite events....etc.

Royal doesn't follow the same logic.

My Grandson is Diamond on his own points and is 21. He was questioned by a bartender who wouldn't serve him a drink without his ID (driver's license) on a recent cruise. We tried to use the Diamond room for breakfast one morning. There were 5 of us, and four of us are Diamond. They gave us a hard time and didn't want our friend to be able to join us. When we said, that was fine and we would all leave, they allowed her to join us. I would have understood if it had been the Diamond lounge, but it was a ROOM that was empty with the exception of one couple. Haven't ever used the room since then, even though on our last cruise, we were all Diamond. I felt it was a bit too stuffy. No my "people" type place. The only other couple in there "entertained" us with their stock portfolio over eggs and bacon through the entire meal.

There will be a piece of paper in your cabin telling you the Diamond perks. You'll get a plate with chocolate covered strawberries and cupcakes delivered to your room one evening. You'll get an hour of internet time free. You'll get a 20% discount on any RCCL logo item purchased in the logo store. You'll have a private embarkation lounge. 3 free pulls on a slot machine. BOGO free at Johnny Rockets (milkshakes only). Buy one get one on a specialty coffee. Buy one get one on a glass of wine. Outside the drinks and the Diamond lounge these are the only ones I can remember. I think there are a few more like something on the Bingo and another one on the Casino.

Correct, Royal does not follow that same logic. Celebrity allows a non-elite cabin me to join the elite passenger for all events.

Don't count on this. It depends on the ship. And the kitchen.

The specialty coffee is only in a specialty restaurant.
