Casino players promo

I was just informed by my HAL Personal Cruise Consultant (PCC) that there is a new promo tied to past casino play. Similar to other casinos, if your play is recorded at a sufficient level you get a code on your Mariner file. I do not know the amount of play required, but I'm a regular, but not huge player, and it's on my file. Looking at Jan-Feb, 2017 Caribbean sailings, it saved us a bunch. You have to give up Explore 4, but in our case on a 14-day Neptune deal, I saved far more up front than I thought I'd ever get out of Explore 4 eighteen months down the road.

I know people are going to be perturbed when they find out they don't have such a code on file when they have had substantial past casino play. Make sure to ask the pit boss to register you or whatever the appropriate lingo is. Take time to talk with them and they'll pay more attention to your level of play.

Those of you who don't have a HAL PCC are missing the boat, no pun intended. They provide a wealth of info, can make reservations, and then transfer the reservation without penalty to your Travel Agent to take advantage of whatever additional goodies your travel agency is throwing in.

Bon Voyage!

Interesting. Would you mind sharing some details about what you got? OBC? Reduced fare? No need to quote specific numbers, I'm just curious about the kind of goodies in this promo. (I'll never get this promo with my level of spending in the casino, which is zero.)

I received a fare reduction and a small OBC. The fare reduction from the fare including Explore 4 was substantial as I mentioned previously. It was really eye-catching on a Koningsdam fare on the HAL site shown without Explore 4 included. Apples to apples comparison that way. It's sure worth looking at. The fare reduction may slightly lower benefits like OBC from your Travel Agent as they are based on total fare paid. I don't know if Travel Agents have access to this deal, but if not, a HAL PCC can help then transfer the booking to your agent.

I too was advised that I was eligible for the discounts based upon my past play. The benefits I received were OBC (not significant but more than enough to cover room steward tipping for both of us), dinner for 2 in the Pinnacle for one night and one I had never heard of. Apparently once I report to the casino on my next cruise, 10/17/15, I will receive a percentage of what I paid for the cruise in cash. It is a nice perk and one I hope will be repeated.

I received a casino offer via email. I figured it was like all of the other "sale" emails I get from HAL, which end up being nothing special, but when I checked I was able to get an inside cabin for a 7 day cruise in November for about $300 per person.

I was just wondering if this code might appear somewhere in my profile where I can see it if it is there. We spend lots of time in the casino (way too much). Just sent an email to my PCC but thought I would see if I could check myself.

Thanks,

Helen

In November will be my first sailing on HAL. However, since HAL is owned by Carnival, and I have past multiple sailings with casino usage and frequent Casino promos from Carnival, would this crossover to HAL? In other words, would I be eligible for special offerings on HAL?

I've not seen it in my profile. I assume it's internal. I asked my PCC to remove any marketing holds on my account after reading a thread about people receiving deals a couple weeks ago. He had not mentioned the casino code in the past so I wondered if that's why the code appeared, but he says it was there. If you don't have a code, take my advise in my initial thread remarks on your next cruise. A side note: if you change your reservations to take advantage of a different promo than what you had when you booked, the new promo will be applied to current rates. I looked at our Jan 2016 cruise and our suite has gone up $4000 since I booked so no new promo was going to help us there. It made a nice difference on cruises just opening for booking.

but never got anything from the casino company or HAL about it. That's after 20 cruises. I wonder what you have to play to get an offer.

Normally casinos base their offers on the total amount of play you put through their machines or table games - it has little to do with how much you win or lose, as they know if you play enough they will come out ahead.

In the land based casinos we frequent, $5 played in the regular slot machines or $10 in video poker machines earns you 1 CENT in comps (to give you an idea on how much play you need). Table play earns you even less per dollar bet.

So, you need to play alot to get these offers IMO.

If you want to know if you qualify just google Ocean Players Club click on HAL which is Club 21. We called before every cruise to find out what our level of play was on the previous cruise and to find out how much cash we would get. Most times it was a substantial amount. Not to mention free alcohol while playing.

$100 for the entire cruise? We play $100 or more most cruises per DAY and are just small change gamblers. I'd think you would have to gamble closer to $1000 or more per DAY to be considered.

I contacted my PCC to see if the casino promo would apply to our cruise in January. She advised that these promos usually apply to caribbean cruises in Oct., Nov. and early Dec. but if there was a promo on one of my cruises they would let me know via email. Since we don't usually do the caribbean (even though we're in Florida) I doubt I'll ever see that promo.

NMLady, I am not a large gambler either, about the same as what you mentioned with the $100 a day being what I usually limit myself to. I think it must be based on the total play, not just how much you end up losing. A couple of years ago I did a 10 day southern Caribbean on the Noordam and I know I spent less than $1,000 on the trip in the casino. However on the sea days I did spend a lot of time there. I recently got a casino players promo in the mail from HAL, and this promo was offering 30% off the cruise fare, but no OBC was mentioned. I don't know if it is the same promotion or not as previously mentioned, but I was kind of surprised to get it because I am definitely not a high roller. If I recall correctly I have until early September to sign up for it and make a reservation.

I mentioned on a previous thread on the topic, but I'll be going on a cruise first week of November booked off the 'free cruise' casino play offer that mailed out a month or two ago. It was for a free cruise in an inside cabin, with several specific itineraries picked out, and you could pay to upgrade to a better cabin category at a very reasonable rate. I picked an aft corner Neptune suite for $600 per person, port fees & taxes included for a 7-day cruise.

The relative who got the offer generally plays around $60-80 per day in the casino, at most around $100 per day on the at-sea days...so it doesn't require quite in the $1000 range per fay to qualify for offers. She is a frequent cruiser though too, so the overall volume of her play in a given year might be high, since she cruises around 100 days a year, mostly with HAL. $80 per day for 14 days a year might not be enough to qualify, but $80 per day for 100 days a year adds up to a fair amount spent in the casino, and maybe why she got the generous offer.

Apparently i got this offer in the mail a week or 2 ago and didn't bother to open it since I figured the offers couldn't be that good since i'm a cheap gambler.

I've been on two 7 day HAL cruises in the last 10 years - the last was 18 months ago --- generally, i play craps - and my budget for the casino is usually $200 per week... although if i lost it early, i might have bet up to $400-- For the week. When playing craps, I'm a $5 (the minimum bet) pass line better with max odds, usually playing a come bet and buying the 6 and 8 (if neither is the point)-- i'm small time.

The only thing i can think of is that they got me confused with someone else at the craps table.

I finally opened the letter yesterday. The offers are the best i've seen from HAL. If i can find my scanner, i'll post them.

I'd call a HAL cruise consultant or contact the Ocean Players Club.

These offers come directly from HAL. Not the Ocean Players Club. The offers in the mailer all are talking about are the following:

ms Westerdam

7 day Eastern Caribbean

Oct 17 or Dec 5

Current Fare from $449

Casino Fare from $329

ms Eurodam

7 day Western Caribbean

Nov 8th or Jan 3rd

Current Fare from $499

Casino Fare from $349

ms Nieuw Amsterdam

7 day Western Caribbean

Nov 15th

Current Fare from $449

Casino Fare from $329

ms Oosterdam

11 Southern Caribbean Wayfarer

Dec 7th

Current Fare from $999

Casino Fare from $699

Now there are several different offers attached to the mailer from a discounted rate all the way up to a free Neptune suite. Some offers include cash. It all depends on how much you play.

I was referring to the question regarding how to get possible HAL discount or comps from past play aboard Carnival. I would assume player history and rating is available to all the Ocean Players Club Casino cruise lines, hence my suggestion to contact their rep. When you call them, they ask if you're interested in booking. Sounds to me like that would open the door to get a cross-lines discount. Never hurts to ask.

I spoke to a HAL cruise consultant on Friday and he had no knowledge of special coding assigned to casino players. He referred me to a phone number in Miami which I haven't had time to call yet. Wife and I play craps budgeting about $200 a night and have never been offered a perk. On my last cruise, I forgot to pack a baseball hat and actually demanded the casino manager give me a Club 21 hat as a minimal gesture for my casino play. When he agreed, I told him it was the most expensive hat I ever bought costing about $150.

There was a previous post on this thread about a combination of time spent playing combined with your average bet that determines whether you're "rated" or not. I believe he said 4 hours and a $20 average bet at table games. Does that mean 2 hours with a $40 average bet would get you rated as well? Questions like these should be posed when you talk to Miami. I have a rating, but don't know what it is or have personal knowledge as to how it's derived. I"ll attempt to find out and report back to the forum. Please let us know what you find out as well.
