Notice Joy is heading for Gibraltar now and arriving in 4 days time.

With media on board for a "media inaugural" as it appears, someone won a cup on the go kart track. Not sure how many media are on board as CruiseCritic isn't..? And a Southampton stop would make sense to let on or off more media/shorter trips. Maybe NCL selected their media as this same person makes popular cruising videos.

Some very neat features on the inside, some we would really like on features ships too I think! But let's not forget her good looks on the outside, with radar domes and forward mast installed. Taken a few days ago in the Eemshaven in Holland, before she set sail to Bremershaven in Germany for her delivery and the open seas;

And when we run the numbers;

Some sources report Joy as 168.750 GT which would top Royal Caribbean's Quantum/Anthem/Ovation of the Seas with their 168.666 GT in tonnage. Joy's older sister Escape measures 165.157 GT. The width or beam at the waterline is identical as both classes are build at today's maximum capacity at Meyer Werft, 136 ft or in metric 41.4 meters.

Joy is a bit shorter than Quantum, 1,094 ft (333 m) versus Royal's 1,139 ft. (347 m) but still the longest and heaviest in NCL's megaship fleet;

Epic 1,081 ft (329.5 m) 155,873 GT

Escape 1,069 ft (325.9 m) 165,157 GT

Breakaway & Getaway 1,068.4 ft (325.64 m), 145,655 GT

If we take Joy's highest numbers she surpasses Quantum in GT, making her the world's 4th largest cruise ship after Oasis, Allure and Harmony of the Seas (#4 Symphony coming in april 2018) in the world. If we run the lower numbers she is currently the 7th largest cruise ship sailing the seas.

Either way it makes the Breakaway Plus class the second or third larges class at this time, at this moment the to be build Norwegian Bliss is rated at 167,800 GT.

Thanks, hadn't saw it yet! Semi informative read. CC stayed on board one day and night stated in the article and judging by the landscape it was still in the Dutch Eemshaven, the video guy is still on board or he is stretching his uploads?

edit; from the same CC editor in another Joy article; http://www.cruisecritic.com/news/news.cfm?ID=7771 "Joy is a Breakaway Plus class of ship and shares much of its DNA with Norwegian Escape, which will be based in Copenhagen this summer." Wow, just wow. :)
