There is definitely a lack of pool space onboard the joy. Taking reference to the the re-positioning cruise on the Genting Dream from Singapore to Hong Kong, there was hardly anyone using the pool deck. Due to the hot weather climate in Asia, they rather hide in the air-con areas of the ship.

This is sue to a cultural thing. Chinese people don't like sun bathing and getting tan. For them white/pale skin is a symbol of beauty and social status. Women in chine use umbrellas to avoid the sun during summer, so this ship being planned for the chinese market, it doesn't have many sun areas. In fact in the main pool area, they have a park concept with a pool sideways so it gets shade most of the timw

You are right on the mark here. Westerner remember this once and for all.

  • 2 weeks later...
Why testing your fire control system with water sucked from the shallow and muddy shipyard's bassin isn't a clever idea..

Jesus, I thought the Joy caught fire...

Wonder whose bright idea was to do this, not exactly Meyer Werft's first ship. :\

Same here! :)

Here's the German source; https://www.schiffe-und-kreuzfahrten.de/norwegian/schlammschlacht-auf-der-norwegian-joy-im-werftbecken/123257/

Wouldn't be the first fire on board Joy btw, she already had two; one minor and one causing some €/$50.000 in damage. :o

They are already cleaning her up, see here. And more photos after the incident can be found here.

BTW, the Ems conveyance is scheduled for next week. So far they are saying March 22nd - 26th. They final date will be announced by the beginning of next week as they still have to wait for the weather forecast.

Ems conveyance...

According to an article in NOZ yesterday it´s still not clear and Meyer prefers Sunday.

But I just saw a post on a German board now saying:

27th 00:00 start

27th 07:00 Jann-Berghaus-bridge

27th 13:00 Ems-Sperrwerk

Not sure how reliable that information is. But the webcam on the Meyerwerft Website is online.

Here we go with the Ems conveyance. Check out the webcam on the Meyerwerft website and there´s also the link to the NDR live stream.

Sunday, March 26, 2017

Approx. 08.30 pm: ship in waiting position (Papenburg)

Approx. 09.00 pm: ship passes sea lock (Papenburg)

Monday, March 27, 2017

Approx. 01.45 am: ship passes Friesenbrücke (Weener)

Approx. 04.00 am: ship passes the Jann Berghaus bridge (Leer)

Approx. 08.30 am: arrival at the river Ems barrier (Gandersum)

Approx. 12.30 am: ship passes the Ems barrier

Unfortunately it will be dark unless she reaches the Ems barrier.

Of course all weather depending but the forecast is pretty good.

Possible that was shot on a different ship? I'm not sure I saw anything uniquely "Joy" other than go-karts, and that had an odd close-up angle.

Yup, Escape Haven courtyard so the rest is also Escape I guess. The cart track doesn't seem to have the white markings and a long stretch of tarmac. :) But fun to watch.. :D

Conveyance is live on NDR site linked by FreestyleNovice in above post. Wish Joy was more lit up and wish it wasn't dark .....

and really wish they were playing some other "music".

In the dark nobody care about It , thats sad , why chinese dont make There own brand , joy is in ncl fleet but not for Booking
