KruzPrincess Posted October 12, 2015 #1 Share Posted October 12, 2015 (edited) Hey Everyone. I'm on the Royal Princess for 20 days. Yay. I'm not sure how much day to day stuff I'll post, but I wanted to try to answer questions if you have any. First, I'll say I'm not much for a lot of activities and I'm not planning on doing a lot of excursions. That said, I'll see if I can answer questions... Today was our first Meet & Greet. The Captain attended and announced the name of the new Princess ship - Majestic Princess. I see that's already been posted here on CC. He said it will be in China. At the M&G, I was pleased to get to meet our Cruise Critic HOST Andy who is sailing with us! It was very nice. So far, I think the ship is beautiful and the crew has been very nice. Food was good in the MDR for embarkation lunch yesterday. I ate in the buffet last night and it was very nice.....and the food was HOT. I hate lukewarm food, but that was not the case here. Very impressed. I love the on demand TV, too. That's it for now. Edited October 12, 2015 by KruzPrincess

FritzG Posted October 12, 2015 #3 Share Posted October 12, 2015 I'm glad to hear that the food in HC is hot. We were on the 27 day British Isles/TA, and the food was consistently lukewarm. There was a great selection, and everything looked so good, so it was disappointing not to have hot food. On the other hand, we found the food in the mdr to be even better than usual with a more varied selection which is saying a lot because we've always been very happy in the dining room. Alfredo's was terrific with great service and delicious hot food.

oceanseagle12 Posted October 13, 2015 #13 Share Posted October 13, 2015 Thanks for taking us along. Hope you have a great cruise! I'm curious to know what, if any, changes have occurred to the MDR menu. Princess has been saying that the Curtis Stone selections will be on all ships in October.... luv4cruises Posted October 13, 2015 #14 Share Posted October 13, 2015 I hope Andy will post few opinions X wondering minds...Would love to hear about Perry's first cruise. Andy, have a great time. FYI Go to Perry Grant!s FB fan page to see and read about his debut on Princess! Having cruised on the Eclipse and the Royal his entertainment venue on Royal's level 2 of the most beautiful atrium at sea is a far cry from his dingy, cramped corner in Cellar Master's on the Eclipse. It seems his fans were out in full force to welcome him aboard the Royal Princess. I wish him the best and hope to see him on Princess.

KruzPrincess Posted October 13, 2015 Author #16 Share Posted October 13, 2015 Another beautiful sea day on the Royal Princess today. There are a lot of activities going on. Stopped by the taping of the Wake Show. Lots going on in the atrium. I have to eat my words about hot food in the buffet. I guess it depends on when you go? I went to dinner quite early the first night and food was HOT. I actually went back for a snack later on and the items I chose were hot then, too. These were in the area that they use for Crab Shack when it's offered. Maybe those tables are kept warmer? Last night, that section was used by the Crab Shack and I got food from another area. The food was just warm. I was disappointed. I don't really like spending a lot of time in MDR, so I usually choose to grab something quick. I have to say service is excellent in the buffet, though. I am cruising solo, so it's all about easy and not doing to much of anything except relaxing. Those of us on the roll call have been concerned about Dominica and Princess Cays. So far, no ports have been cancelled. Someone read that Princess Cays are was spared, but I will report as we get closer. I forgot about Perry Grant. I will look for him and let you all know. I am in a mini suite and I have to say the cabin is very nice. The couch is huge. You actually need pillows to sit upright because it's so deep....unless you have very long legs, I guess. Very comfy to relax and read. Today I checked out the promenade deck outdoor areas and they have comfortable chairs, but one side is too sunny and the other side is very windy. I miss my shaded promenade deck. Yesterday, I went to the shopping show and didn't win anything, but the shopping host, Marty, is a very nice guy and quite knowledgable. He made me want to spend money. I guess he's doing his job. I went to a movie in the Princess Theater (Pitch Perfect 2) and it's a nice venue. I spent some time in the casino and donated money. Having a nice time. Ship is lovely and crew very nice. Talk to you all later.
Northender Posted October 13, 2015 #17 Share Posted October 13, 2015 Enjoying the review. Would you mind describing your cabin and balcony size, etc. a little more and let us know the #. If you don't want to put the # could you say what deck and position of your cabin. Thanks
Dietemann Posted October 13, 2015 #18 Share Posted October 13, 2015 I watched the bridge cam on the prior cruise - the Royal did stop at Dominica, but bypassed Princess Cays.

We loved the horizon court layout and food but really didn't care for the lack of shade in the pool areas and specially on the promenade deck….or lack of a promenade deck! glad to hear the crew is still outstanding… looking forward to the rest of your cruise! We were on the same cruise. On the warmer sea days we loved sitting and reading/napping on the starboard promenade deck. It was usually very quiet, and we prefer to stay out of direct sunlight. The ocean was so calm on the sea days so it wasn't too windy. In our 6 ta's this crossing was by far the smoothest. But we did miss a promenade deck that allowed us to walk all the way around.
