New Internet Packages and You Tube

Just off of a cruise where I purchased the Premium internet package and I can confirm that YouTube is not included. This falls under the "streaming" services a previous poster mentioned, and is therefore blocked. Streaming music (Spotify, Songza) worked just fine, but as mentioned in the package details there were no streaming video services (YouTube, Netflix, etc). Therefore, the only way to get YouTube on a cruise is by using your actual data. You'll be paying dearly for it though :P

So no logging on to watch a football or basketball game? Hubby is not going to be pleased as I told him that shouldn't be a problem any more.

Yeah unfortunately I don't think that'll be supported. Here's hoping the sports bar on your ship has a good variety available!

YouTube is blocked, as are all of the streaming sites and even a few harmless sites like imgur.

There are ways around it though... *cough*vpn*cough*

So if some0ne worked for a corporation that had a VPN connection they can watch Netflix/ Amazon prime/ DirectTv ????

I would think the Sports Bar would have a good variety of games playing, plus whatever is on the t.v. in your cabin. I believe they also show games in the casino, especially play off games. They also had a special screening for a NFL playoff game in one of the venues on the ship on our January cruise.

Why work for a company that offers it. My cellphone came with a pre installed VPN. Anyone can use one regardless if there they work for someone that has one.

Thoughts...

  • would they be able to block it if you are using a VPN?
  • would they be able to block it if you are using an App to watch video content?
  • do they block Kodi (XBMC)?

With a VPN they shouldn't be able to block it but you never know.

Possibly, second question goes hand and hand with the first and they are both contingent on each other.

I have no idea.

Problem with VPN is that it slows transmission and receive speed even more than what it already is.

If I'm sitting in a hotel that is capped at 3Mbps and log in using my VPN,, I'm less than 1Mbps and might even be so slow as unable to connect.

If I'm sitting at home with 25 or 30 Mbps,,, once I log into VPN, I'm down to under 5Mbps

Is there a sports bar on the Breeze? I thought I read that there isn't If there is then no problem.

We have cruised three times during March madness and only on the NCL spirit were we able to watch the games.

There are a bank of TVs at the Casino Bar. In October, we asked them to change to FOX to watch a KC Royals playoff game. They obliged and changed about 1/2 of them to baseball.

There was no "official" sports bar that I ever saw.
