The movie with food was said to cost $19 moving forward, no charge has been mentioned for any other movies and I have not been there to see if anything like popcorn has been offered.

Sorry to jump onto Jenna's thread but this appeared in our Royal suite while out in port today. The map is still our decoration. I'm not sure if they had plans to add art on the wall we are using.

Just off the Infinity before the refit, so far I liked it before.

 

I don't need a lounge above my favorite cabin 1140.

 

I enjoy the empty space on deck 12 at the stern, great for photo's.

 

3 Cruises on the Summit coming up, Cabin 1140.

The lounge does not impact any if your views or can be heard from below, so no harm, but adds a nice feature for many. Our friends in 1141 haven't heard it any more than the silverware clanking from 10.

I did half my shots on the empty 12. Great for sunrise/sunset shots.

I may have to book a Sky Suite on my next cruise just so I can go to Luminae and get one of those Chocolate Spheres! That is about the coolest looking dessert I've ever seen!

Also, as a note on the 12/20 cruise, there seem to be 1500 cruisers from Latin (central and south) America going to be onboard.

I thought about starting a new thread but this is as good as any. I stopped by Bistro on 5 today to see what the daily special was and there is another new menu. Looks good to me but will miss some things like the lamb, and the oinion soup but I love tuna. We've had two good meals there, but it's not Luminae.

 

 

I'll try and post on Lima in a bit. A few words of description: Traffic. Clean. Eclectic.

The server there didn't seem to know but based on his comments and a few subtle changes in luminae (colored Hawaiian salt on butter today) a few changes seem to be implement fleet wide ? Someone else will have to confirm.

The first ever taste of film on Celebrity is going to begin shortly.

 

 

The movie is the 100 Foot Journey. It's a tad windy, by not too bad. I've seen the movie previously and love it.

 

This is the intro by Sarah, the cruise director of how it will work. The menues are above but we didn't bring it with. If we didn't have the pic I'd have know idea what we're eating. Its also a bit messy eating out of the little boxes

I'm far behind, mostly due to slow internet. Where was I?

 

Lima, stuck in traffic? That was a big theme of that port. First a shuttle bus ride that was required to get off the ship (as was the case at most ports) the drop off at a mall which was a couple of miles from the port but took 30-45 minutes. Also as was the case in most ports we were greeted by a mob of hungry zombies, I mean taxi drivers, as soon as we got off the shuttle. Thankfully our guide was easily visible and lead us right off to our chariot for the day, complete with wifi (all be it spotty and a bit slow).

 

First stop was the Pachacamac archeological site which dates back to as old as 200 AD. It's not Machu Pichu but it was certainly interesting.

 

 

 

It wasn't far from the edge of the city, or a typical "squatter" community

 

 

Next, we were off to a typical local in town market

 

 

Refrigeration? Who needs it?

We did sample some local fruit which was a mix between a berry and a tomatoe

 

 

Next we were off to downtown and lunch which was included in the tour at a local restaurant, that was also tourist friendly, though our guide who was excellent had to order for most of us. No pics of the restaurant on my camera but I did get a little food porn of my ceviche

 

 

We then walked a bit through the down town square area, the cathedral and the catacombs (no pictures allowed in the catacombs. The church was stunning.

Next up, Arica, where we went from sea level to 15,000 ft / 4600 meters where we visited one of the highest lakes in the world, saw amazing wildlife meters and back to sea level, complete with headaches (altitude sickness).

Arica was our biggest tour, with 15 total roll call members. We drove, and drove, and drove up to 15,000k ft (4600m) with a number of stops along the way for a church, and old village and bathroom breaks as we were told to drink LOTS of water as well as a few other precautions like deep breathing and walking slowly to avoid altitude illness from a fast ascent an descent from sea level. In the end, it didn't work and both Darlene and I were sick to varying degrees as were a number of others in the tour. Wildlife was amazing at the high altitude lake in Chile and one of the highest in the world Chungara. A bird watchers paradise.

The road up to the park and lake is the major highway from Arica to the land locked Bolivia (we were only 25 miles from Bolivia). No escape from commercialism.

We stopped in a local village for local lunch on the way down. Food was variable, I heard the other tours advice and went with vegetables which were ok. Chicken soup was excellent.

 

 

 

We stopped road side briefly in the way down to view hieroglyphs on the mountainside.

 

 

We met everyone at 7am and got back to the ship at 530p. A very long but interesting day. By 630p my room service (2 Tylenol) had been delivered to deal with my altitude headache and I was face in a pillow asleep.

 

Next up, Valparaiso and Santiago which themselves were pleasant surprises, including a wine tasting, lunch in a vineyard plus s few images and overall commentary.

 

As an FYI, I'm posting from our hotel in Santiago where we're spending an extra day because Dee got sick on this:

 

It is a local Chilean seat summer drink consisting of grain (corn in this case) and peaches called Mote Con Huesillo. She had it at Los Dominicas which is a very nice local higher end handicraft village in Santiago. I warned her but apparently not strongly enough. The only issue in changing travel plans has been LAN Chili :(

Thanks for the great posts. We are on the 1/3 sailing from BA to Valparaiso and was wondering about disembarkation in Valpariso. I understand there is a shuttle from the ship to the terminal. Any help old be appreciated
