Rebels82 Posted January 20, 2016 #1 Share Posted January 20, 2016 Table Players - For those table players that get the casino discounted rate, how much ($$$ and time) are you playing to get the casino rate? Does the casino rate vary? I normally do NCL cruises, but will be on the Regal in Feb. Thanks!
sportsmum Posted January 20, 2016 #2 Share Posted January 20, 2016 It is my understanding that it is random. We don't play the tables - only the slots, and the cheap ones at that.$20 a night is what we play. Sometimes it will go to $30 but if we are winning we play our winnings. I lose more than my husband and he got the casino rate attached to his name. The 2017 cruise we booked saved us $800 p/p with the casino rate. CruisingJs Posted January 20, 2016 #3 Share Posted January 20, 2016 The amount of the discount varies from 5% to 35% depending on the destination and the type of cabin you book. It is also capacity controlled. It seems that they only allow so many discounted fares per cruise so you need to book early once you qualify. sportsmum Posted January 21, 2016 #5 Share Posted January 21, 2016 Thank you. DH qualified about 3 years ago but this is the first time it has come into play. Cruising J's post makes sense now. I booked this cruise as soon as it came out so they weren't full capacity on the casino rate.
Rare Cruise Raider Posted January 21, 2016 #6 Share Posted January 21, 2016 We sailed on Princess with some friends that were first time cruisers (we are elite). We spend quite a bit of time in the casino but are not big spenders by any means....but do gamble consistently. Our friends took a shot at their luck as well while onboard ... probably betted heavier on each bet, but probably spent way less than we did overall. We all received the casino discount email. Very random!
Rebels82 Posted January 21, 2016 Author #7 Share Posted January 21, 2016 Sounds like Princess lets you know if you qualify for the casino discount via email. How much time passes between the cruise where one gambles and receiving the email? Is there a phone no./dept. to call if you haven't received an email to see if one qualifies for the discount? Thanks.
chris2597 Posted January 21, 2016 #8 Share Posted January 21, 2016 We got it once. I usually play the slots. It was a great rate.

Rare Cruise Raider Posted January 22, 2016 #11 Share Posted January 22, 2016 Does anyone get a benefit from playing the tables on Princess? Free drinks? Anything? I have seen the casino host or one of the staff offer free drinks to those that they see in the casino often. If you play a lot, don't hesitate to introduce yourself to the host. They are authorized to give you some freebies.

The first year we didn't get notified and found out when booking a cruise. This year we both got emails.
sportsmum Posted January 22, 2016 #15 Share Posted January 22, 2016 I didn't know it expired! We had an email a couple years back that DH had the casino rate and didn't think about it. I phoned Princess last year for a quote and the girl said, DH qualifies for the casino rate let me check that. I do not know what that discount was as I was getting better elsewhere. This month I booked for 2017 and afterwards called the girl back and asked her to check the casino rate because for some reason it just hit me. Saved a bundle. DH - not me- was offered free drinks twice on the Panama Canal cruise (Coral). He has the casino rate- not me. Maybe that was the reason? We certainly are not high rollers but, like cruise raider, do drop $20 nightly. Or, less frequently, use our winnings up!:)

Thanks. We got our email while still onboard the Caribbean in Nov, but then we did a B2B cruise, so that might have been why. We got a "cash letter" for our next cruise at the end of our B2B. Leaving again tomorrow on a nice "casino rate" trip :)
sportsmum Posted January 23, 2016 #19 Share Posted January 23, 2016 Do any of you slot players remember how many points you racked up per cruise? We are around 1000 points. But, probably less than. DH a couple hundred more than me. We lose our $20 quickly. Last cruise (10 day Mexican) was the first time we got the casino cash voucher. It was for DH who has the casino rate. Worth $100 if we booked and travelled soon. We can not use it. I do not know if it can be combined with the casino rate.
Rare nbsjcruiser Posted January 23, 2016 #20 Share Posted January 23, 2016 (edited) We saved something like $600-$800 on each the two cruises we have booked with Princess. The savings were good enough for us to book a 10 day in Feb 2017 and this fall we actually booked a 7 day cruise for about $1000USD for two. I couldn't believe the price when I saw it. An oh, that includes tips and a free specialty dining coupon. Typically we do a short 4 day cruise in the fall but we're actually paying less for 7 days on the Regal then we would typically pay for 4 days on a small ship like the Majesty of the Seas. It was a no brainer to book the 7 day. For 2017 we had a 9 day Southern booked on the Navigator of the Seas but we cancelled it and grabbed a 10 on the Royal Princess for less. long cruiser Posted January 23, 2016 #21 Share Posted January 23, 2016 If you are a first time player in the casino play the $1.00 and up slots.I guarantee you will get a discount on your next cruise. You will also lose the most money.Slot machines pay off 97% of the time on the above machines. I was a casino host in atlantic city and I loved to see penny and nickel players. long cruiser

sportsmum Posted January 23, 2016 #23 Share Posted January 23, 2016 :) Before we bumped ourselves up to $20 a night we were at $10 a night. We went to the casino and DH went off to his favourite machine and I was wandering about. I decided to throw caution to the wind and play a $1 machine! This is huge for me! I put my $10 in (before the cruise card payment thing in the casino) and pulled the handle..... nothing.... I pulled again since I had 10 spins. The wheels didn't turn. I was confused so I called over a casino worker and explained that I had $10 invested and it only worked once. Yes, that's right. I blew my whole budget on a $10 slot machine! I now pay very close attention to zero's and stay at my nickel slots. :) Since we really are not there thinking we will come out with money we aren't too worried. We are there to kill time after dinner or after the show. You know, so enough time has gone by that we can respectfully go from dining room to check out the buffet........ It did serve as a good reminder that DH did qualify so I remembered to ask about that rate when I booked 2017. Rebels82 Posted January 23, 2016 Author #25 Share Posted January 23, 2016 It seems like most of the comments are coming from slot players. Have any table players received the casino rate? I play 3 Card Poker and Let It Ride. I do play some video poker.
