Ovations of the Seas - Drink Prices Gone Mad!

We are cruising on the mini cruise 14th April.

 

RCL have finally allowed guests to book dining and packages.

 

I have noticed quite a lot of posts about drink package increases, discounts, etc. but this is mad - take a look at this screenshot from my cruise planner.

 

I was amazed at how expensive these packages are (albeit they include the gratuity). The Premium package is £53 ($74.20) and the Ultimate is £57 ($79.80) per day

Interesting that the price difference between Premium and Ultimate is around $5. On board the difference would be $11.80.

3 nights on Ovation the cost of the Premium is £158.59 - 52.86pd = $75.06pd

3 nights on Harmony the cost of the Premium is £119.70 - £39.90pd = $56.65pd.

 

 

Both cruises are 3 nights round trip from Southampton.

 

How can they justify/explain the £40 difference??:confused:

Wow, that is insane... we are cruising Ovation in may for the 16 night Barcelona to Dubai and our prices are much much less...

 

£32 per day for Premium and £39 for Ultimate.... although these prices times 16 are still much higher than your inflated prices x 3

so it looks like they are tailoring the packages for the type of cruise.

 

A 3 day taster will be booze intensive cruise ( for some) hence the high price

 

i wouldn't want to be on one of those.

 

I had bad reports of a similar type cruise from a neighbor, with 3 nights for Southampton.

 

From reports of what they spent the package might be a bargain :D

As we are emerald we will get a few free drinks (Buy one, get one free) and with a couple of bottles of wine to carry on for our room, I just don't think it will be worth having a package on this one.

Sounds like drink packages are dynamic pricing instead of across the board pricing. The prices go up and down according to demand. I know on Allure the drink pkg is 20% off for a cruise in late May.

US price is $22.42 inclusive of gratuity, so $32 was way out of line.

How do you all get to $74.06 from $52.86?

 

$52 .86 + 18% ($9.51) = $62.37

 

Or am I missing something?

Then why is the price higher than the 3 night on Harmony?

I'm on the 3 night Harmony cruise and the premium package costs £119 and the ultimate package costs £140.

I was quoting USD. Also, for cruises out of Australia, the cruise line normally builds in the 18% gratuity to the listed price, so expect the listed prices to be higher.

Does anyone have drink prices for Australian Ovation cruises? Specifically wines by the glass. If it's a $12 limit on the drink package I don't want to be paying $4 per drink if the $16 per glass for Kim Crawford is correct

You've got to remember that UK cruises INCLUDE the tips in the price...they don't show them separately! Therefore, any package and fare will be higher.
