Do you have any MSC Divina questions?

BB ............. I've thoroughly enjoyed the reviews of both your MSC cruises - they're incredibly informative with great insights and balanced views. I don't often read Divina reviews as it's a different beast to the Europe based itineraries which would be more my line, but, since reading your contributions I decided to backtrack through your threads as I really like your writing style (and the terrific photos!).

Two very interesting, and again, informative, titbits have come to light.

1. No more future cruise vouchers for OBC on Early Booking Rate bookings. I sailed in April last and had a lot of interaction with the Voyagers' Club rep but never thought to buy a voucher. I was planning to buy some on an upcoming cruise as a lot of next year's cruises are Early Booking Rates.

2. No more matchplay in the casino. I had matchplay in April so that's another new sneaky cutback! :(

Thanks to such thorough reviews, you've shed light on these shady moves by MSC.

Why thank you Bea! What a lovely thing to say. I try to be fair and balanced :).

PINCH ME! I can't believe it, but I am about to embark on my third cruise in 4 months! My waistline is going to hate me. We're headed to Venice for the rest of the week and boarding the Rhapsody of the Seas for a 10 night Greek Isles cruise stopping in; Corfu, Santorini, Athens, Mykonos, Kotor, and Zadar. This is my first time in Corfu and Kotor so I'm pretty darned excited. I'm sure I''ll be doing a lot of comparing RCL with NCL with MSC since I will have sailed all three within the last year. I'll do a live thread in the RCL forum if you're interested in following along in my next journey :).

I would most definitely love to read your review. May I ask that you post the name of your thread title here so that I, and others can find it easily.

Thank you,

Saw on another thread that YC members can't go to the main dining room if they don't want to dine in LeMuse? True??

That's true for dinner - anyone can dine in MDR for breakfast and lunch as it's open seating. The capacity isn't there in the evenings to cater for YC guests.

It's a deck party,,here's an example from MSC Fantasia:

Thanks Mike, that looks like so much fun. It almost looks like the White Hot Party on NCL so it'll be great fun, I'm sure. I love to dance so any "Dance to the Music Party" is always a great time.

Maybe even better for NYE... ya think.. ?? :p

If that is the case, why do my YC documents say anytime dining?

As Mike said, it's open dining between the hours of dinner service. However, on embarkation you'll be asked which time-slot you'd prefer for dinner over the course of the cruise. Once you indicate a time, they prefer if you either stick to it or notify the restaurant early in the day that you want to change that particular night - either personally or have the Concierge do it. It helps them to plan and organise the restaurant to ensure that they have tables available at the time of your choice. It's a little like making a restaurant booking on land.

We're sailing 8/20 in the YC and I saw mentioned earlier they don't furnish rum in mini bar. Since there is private shopping with your butler, does anyone know if I can buy a bottle of Zacapa XO (I know it's available in the duty free shop) and bring it back to our suite? One additional question. I saw in our cruise docs that jeans are not allowed at night in the casino, etc. Is this for real?! TIA to anyone who can help!

Liquor purchases cannot be taken from the store until 8pm on Friday night, you can pick it up yourself or give your receipt to your butler who will do it. You can also request your butler if rum is available for your bar. We had them remove what we don`t drink & add more what we do. Were also sailing on the 20th.

]Cam we select different times in advance?

For instance, although we usually want early dining can we request the first day that it be later so we can watch sail-away from our balcony...which we like to do, however, Divina leaves at 7 PM, so can we have later dining on that day?

Also, I'd like to experience tea time. Can we have late dining on one of the days too? And then have the rest of the days be early?

Though I know they request it, I bucked the system and just showed up whenever I wanted. I never had a problem with a table not available and I was able to ask for a specific waiter each time. I know I'll probably get bashed for not following protocol (or etiquette for that matter) but heck, it's my vacation. ;)

They really can't insist on you choosing a time - after all, the promo states

An open dining system operates in the Yacht Club, allowing guests to dine at a time that suits them.
. So you can certainly change up the times - I'd suggest you get the concierge to notify them each day just as a courtesy measure.

Sounds like what I will do on my two upcoming cruises, select early seating and show up when I am ready. Gotta stay flexible....
