Hi. I've looked and found a few bits and pieces, but I am sure someone on here will be able to reel off a long list of perks for a Royal Suite. Usually sail HAL suites so don't know that much at the moment. Thanks :)

I know you now have your long list of perks, just a few comments from personal experience. We love the RS on S class, really nice room. You really do feel very special from being escorted on board to the wonderful greeting by the Michael's Club host, the pampering from your butler...the list goes on.

We do enjoy the in room bar set up, our butler always puts a late night snack in the chiller for us to enjoy with a last brandy on the balcony star gazing(shrimp platter, cheese plate...).

Bridge tours, behind the scene tours of other areas, just mention it to the Michael's Club host....

We also really enjoy the unlimited speciality dining. We love Murano's and as we dine there frequently they have been kind enough to even prepare us some off menu treats, just another little perk...

If you find an itinerary that suits go for it and have a great cruise!

This is not something I have heard of before, how does it work?

We just handed them our card, they swiped and said 'no charge'.

Speaking of gelato, IMHO it is no better than the ice cream in the Oceanview Cafe.

When gelato first came on board it was so delicious. What in the world happened?:(

Thanks to all for your help so far.

On a side note, I also need to eat a gluten free diet for medical reasons, but we don't like to plan ahead for food as much as possible.

It does sound like Royal Suite and Penthouse guests might get a bit more flexibility when using their butler and the speciality restaurants?

We tend to have most evening meals in our suite or at speciality restaurants so we're hoping that my special diet can be covered as and when needed.

Also, do these suite guests receive daily evening hot and/or cold hors d'oeuvres such as on Holland America?

Thanks for your assistance:)

I have to be honest having friends who keep to gluten free diets, no matter what room you are in on Celebrity the staff will look after you.

However, Luminae and the specialities really will offer you a personalised service. We are not great fans of the Lumine menu, we just find it a little unbalanced (don't let my comments put you off most people love it). As we board we ask for copies of the Luminae menus for the cruise, note which days we fancy and then put a provisional list together for our dining preferences each night. Tuscan is a favourite for an early meal sailing away from a port, 'family style' Silk Harvest after a busy port day and Murano's on sea days when you have the energy to enjoy a real dining experience.

We give our provisional list to the butler and all is sorted. If we decide to change our butler will sort that too. For your special dietary needs you can either get your butler to explain on booking or give the restaurant a quick ring yourself. They will only be too pleased to help. If you prefer to book 'last minute' staff will do their best to accommodate you but you may not get your preferred time...

Your butler will serve afternoon tea at 4pm, chat to him about any evening snacks you want delivering. We tended to ask for a shrimp platter or a cheese plate to to be left in our chiller to enjoy with an end of night brandy on the balcony. Best place for h'or d'oeurves is in Michael's Club with a pre dinner drink...

Nice summary. Who did you ask to see copies of the Luminae menus?

We always check for the next day, but not the whole cruise.

Thank you.

If you are in a suite where you get contacted prior to the cruise then you can request at that point. But if not then when you are on board you can request these from the Michaels club concierge. We requested from shore side concierge and they were waiting for us when we arrived in the cabin and then the luminae maitre d also gave us a copy when we dined there on the first evening - her set were in the correct order but the ones pre arranged were not so maybe something to double check before going ahead and making speciality reservations based on them!

From personal experience I was never informed of many of the perks. I found out about most of them after I left the ship. No one during the entire cruise offered any information. At check in in the Michael's lounge, we were bombarded with concierge staff trying to book things for us, cabanas on the private island, special chef's dinner at the Lawn Grill etc. It was overwhelming as we weren't sure of the costs and our schedule. So we declined most of the activities. When it was too late we were advised they were complimentary. A couple of other quick examples; breakfast at the Tuscan restaurant, in room dining from specialty restaurants, and the available menus at Luminae. The hostess there came by to chat with us every time we. Our last night we did not like the items offered. She never once mentioned we had other options. It was my first cruise with Celebrity and it was very frustrating to say the least. BTW are there any spa perks for Royal Suite members?

The only spa benefit that I know of is a day's pass (port day) to the Persian garden - but that's only because you get the elite level coupons as part of being in the suite - not sure if you also get these when in a lower than Royal suite (it's possible that you do).

They were also offering a friends and family deal where when you booked 5 treatments you got 20% off - they were selling this in Michaels club on embarkation day but I'm assuming this offer was also available to other guests on the ship.

I didn't realise you could get in room dining from speciality restaurants - but I guess I never asked the butler as for us room service came cold when ordered so we wouldn't have really bothered.

Breakfast in Tuscan is one of the elite based benefits that suites can partake in :)

You really did not miss out on some of the "complementary" items you mention. For example, the Chef's table and cabanas have fee, and it is rare that you could get in room dining served from the specialty restaurants. Breakfast at Tuscan is closer to a continental breakfast, not a full menu that you had at Luminae. Only spa perks are from the Captains Club and they are just a percentage off and one pass to the Persian Gardens on a port day.

The Tuscan Continental breakfast would have been great on the day we were running late and did not want to wait in line for breakfast. I noticed people eating in by the window. When I approached a crew member to ask about it, he was very dismissive, saying it was only for a particular category of guests. I was caught off guard because I wasn't certain if I was in that category. Unfortunately, this happened more than once. Having been my first Celebrity cruise, I was staying in one of the top suites but categorized as a Classic Club member. I was both at the top and at the bottom of the totem pole on that cruise. It was quite confusing. Still is.

I would agree with you that information isn't overly forthcoming - most of how I knew certain things prior to cruising in a Royal Suite came from online investigation on forums and then through discussion with Butler - our butler was good at sorting issues and at giving additional information.

I do also think there needs to be a greater distinction between the higher suite categories and the lower ones - not so much to down play the lower suite categories but as celebrity offer perks specifically for the higher categories that differ from what is offered to the other categories I think it would be useful for this to be easily identified - or at least clarified so that people don't feel they missed out on using a benefit they could well have had. - I'm not an elitist person - just to throw that out there, but if celebrity make a distinction on what they offer, then it would be helpful for staff to be able to instantly recognise your category so they don't have to constantly question what is on offer to you.

I don't understand how one could book what they consider a higher end suite and not make themselves aware of what is included in the premuim price you are paying.

It is right on the website, not hard to find and is also discussed here on CC in many threads.

You really couldn't expect the staff onboard to lay out every amenity that was included.

My two previous cruises on Celebrity were in a RS and I educated myself so I knew what to expect and question my butler/guest services when I wasn't sure.

Things have changed since my last X sailing, and next week we will be in the PH and I have read up on the new suite life, asked questions here and also called X when I had a question. I am fully prepared to enjoy everything that is included with my suite.

Wondering where the info came from that you could order dinner in suite from specialty restaurants?

Dinner served in your cabin, which is available for all guests, not just suites, is from the MDR menu.

We ask the conceirge first day of cruise for copies, being quite open that we are not big Luminae fans...on our last two cruises copies for the full cruise have been day/dated in our room by bedtime.

The Tuscan continental breakfast is for Elite and above Captains Club members. I don't think being in a RS and only Classic gives you eligibility for the breakfast, just as you are not able to attend the Elite happy hour. They do typically give guests in a RS and above a sheet of coupons for Elite CC members but with the beverage package, laundry and free internet they are not of much value.

Being this is directed at me, I feel compelled to respond. My first Celebrity cruise was booked last minute. I was not aware of the many membership levels, the associated benefits, and perks.Because I had little time to plan, I focused on the ports instead. Besides, I do expect the butler and concierge to keep me informed. That is what they are there for. I also expect crew members to treat every passenger with courtesy and respect regardless of their class. That said, my upcoming Celebrity cruise was also planned at the last minute. This time I am making a point to get informed. I still do not find the Celebrity website to be very informative with regard to the lesser known perks available to guests in the top tier suites.

I have never found the crew on a Celebrity ship treat people differently because one might be in a suite and another sailing in an inside cabin.

If you did come across this, it would be rare.

Go to my first post in this thread (I think it is the 2nd one) and you will find two links, one to a flyer and the other to the Celebrity site which explain all the amenities for each class of suites.

Just back from our first Celebrity Cruise and our first Suite experience (RS). 1st let me say we will never again sail in less than a Royal Suite. Our experience was incredible- but to agree with other posters, we spent many evenings looking for additional info on cruise critic and made sure we took a print out of our purchased promised perks on board with us. No need, our concierge John and butler Nelson made sure our needs were anticipated. I am gluten free by medical necessity and must admit I was nervous trusting the food put in front of me. Best week ever. No issues with any meal and our waiter in Luminae had the chef prepare special gluten free foccacia bread for me as well as many special gluten free desserts. We ate, drank, and we're treated like royalty. We enjoyed bridge tours and invites to the helipad (Alaska) sp those were welcomed for the preferred viewings.

If you are seriously thinking of a suite, just do it. But, case in point, spend some time here getting a list of perks. Basically our motto was ask and ye shall receive.

We enjoyed snack platters for afternoon tea, chilled plates in our room in evening, breakfast served most mornings in suite by our bitler, dinners in Tuscan, Murano, and kept returning to Luminae because we adored the service and food was really really good. Sommelier in Luminae was great and we loved trying different wines with pur dinner choices. No one has mentioned but the Michaels Club escort back onto the ship on port days VIP style was great- we were whisked thru the line and back on in a flash.

Enjoy!
