andrek Posted October 4, 2016 #2 Share Posted October 4, 2016 We were on the Nieuw Amsterdam in May and it was beautiful! It looked as good or better than it had when we were on it in its first year of cruising. I think the Eurodam was refurbished last year. We are going on the Eurodam next May. Rare POA1 Posted October 4, 2016 #3 Share Posted October 4, 2016 Eurodam has the latest upgrades, but the Nieuw Amsterdam is in excellent shape.
vicd1969 Posted October 4, 2016 #4 Share Posted October 4, 2016 I believe Nieuw Amsterdam is the next HAL ship scheduled for refurbishment, and so chances are both ships will be virtually identical by the time you take your 2017/2018 cruise. Rare ski ww Posted October 4, 2016 #5 Share Posted October 4, 2016 We'll be on the Eurodam for a New Years cruise and we are looking forward to it. Good to know that it had a make over. Allan
AtlantaCruiser72 Posted October 4, 2016 #6 Share Posted October 4, 2016 Nieuw Amsterdam goes into Drydock in Early November of 2017 and will receive the same upgrades/changes that Eurodam received this past December - Gallery Bar (replacing Northern Lights Nightclub), Billboard Onboard dueling Pianos(replacing Piano Bar / Sports Bar), Lincoln Center Stage (in a portion of Explorers Lounge), New York Pizza, Suite Enhancements and other basic maintenance and updates throughout the ship as needed. djhsolara Posted October 5, 2016 #7 Share Posted October 5, 2016 We were just on NA last January and she is wonderful. We liked the few things that set her apart from Eurodam (although we love both ships). Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Myrtle Ave. Mayhem Posted October 5, 2016 #8 Share Posted October 5, 2016 Must be the New Yorker in me, but my vote goes to the Nieuw Amsterdam. Just off her yesterday in Vancover. She is a beauty and is very well maintained. She, Zuiderdam, & Zaandam are my favorite ships in the fleet.
Cruiser Bruiser Posted October 6, 2016 #9 Share Posted October 6, 2016 Nieuw Amsterdam goes into Drydock in Early November of 2017 and will receive the same upgrades/changes that Eurodam received this past December - Gallery Bar (replacing Northern Lights Nightclub), Billboard Onboard dueling Pianos(replacing Piano Bar / Sports Bar), Lincoln Center Stage (in a portion of Explorers Lounge), New York Pizza, Suite Enhancements and other basic maintenance and updates throughout the ship as needed. A slight clarification: NA already has NY Pizza; I ate there way too often in February. NA also has the new digital entertainment system and the huge flat panel TVs. I'm looking forward to all the rest. Sent from my SM-G930T using Forums mobile app
Himself Posted October 6, 2016 #10 Share Posted October 6, 2016 They are sister ships. Both are fine ships.
Cruiser Andi Posted October 16, 2016 #11 Share Posted October 16, 2016 In researching Alaska cruises for next year, I noticed that the Inpirations group is on board the Eurodam throughout the Alaska season. Just an FYI for those planning. Sent from my iPad using Forums
