Vista review. Cruise out of NYC.

The Matt and Cookie morning show was the FIRST morning show I ever enjoyed watching. Cookie is hysterical.

So many things stood out for my 10 year old son on this cruise. First and foremost was the sports deck! Fabulous. He loved trying his hand at playing pool, he loved the mini-golf, he loved bowling and he really loved the giant pool table you walk on and kick in the balls with your feet. (Awesome). He had so much fun being active this cruise that he only went into the arcade one time.

 

The Skyrider and rope course were also a huge hit. He did the rope course a bunch of times on his own. He also loved the waterworks. They really got that right. Of the two slides, he liked the yellow one (body slide as opposed to the raft slide) the best because it was so fast. I liked the raft slide myself.

 

One surprising thing he really enjoyed was playing shuffle board and foosball in the Red Frog Pub on deck 5. I think he felt very "adult" being allowed in a pub and playing the games.

 

Since he is 10, he was allowed (with our permission) to sign himself in and out of the kids club. He didn't go often, but when he did, he stayed there for a very long time. He did one of the Night Owls party and outlast both his dad and I.

 

Here is the great thing for parents. HUB APP. Since my son was able to get in touch with us anytime/anywhere with the Hub app, it allowed him more freedom then he would normal have on a cruise. So if he was in the kids club and wanted to go to deck 12, he would send us a text asking for permission. It worked out great.

 

There are X-Box and PS4 in the kids club, X-Box in the sports bar and PS4 in the family harbor. My son said he didn't know if you could bring your own games or not but he didn't see anyone with their own games. I'm thinking it may not be allowed since they can't control the type of games people bring on, or if a game gets damaged. It wouldn't hurt to ask though. I would send an email to either guest services or John Heald and ask. Let me know the answer. My son would love to bring some games in the future.

Thanks for your review!!!!! I was on this cruise also and agree with all of your comments. There were 3 of us in a deluxe oceanview cabin and I was shocked at the lack of storage. I thought the food was really bland in the main dining room (Reflections) out of the 10 days we ate dinner only 2 nights were really good. We couldn't get reservations in the Steak House either but the casino gifted me the Cucina del Capitano for 5 of us and it was so delicious!!! I definitely have to sail the Vista again!!

Thank you. Great review. Looking at a 5 day on Dec. 11. Im easy to please with food. My onlyv concern would be the shows. I always do early dining.

 

Is "Cookie" Orlando. I keep hearing about "Cookie" and I'm like where's Orlando!

Awesome Review. I was on this ship also. Agree with every point you made in this review. We had a forward facing cabin with a picture window on the Lido deck. My son had a regular inside cabin that sleeps two on the Lido deck. His cabin was like they took a normal inside cabin and cut it in half. There was just enough space to fit the bed and dresser. No room to walk around. Yes they did cut back on the dresser and closet space. Loving your review and reminiscing.

 

I was on the 11/16 repo out of NYC. There is one less closet because each cabin now has a dedicated AC which allows better climate control in each cabin.

Could not agree more on everything.My thoughts are, the Vista is a BIG ship that is TOO SMALL(too small inside public areas) Everything looks nice, just to many people trying to be in one spot at night at the same time and what is up with the tiny mirror in the cabins? lol

I was on this NY-roundtrip with you and agree with everything you wrote :). I think Kristina did a helluva job at the casino bar....poor thing was there alone alot! Java Joe was fabulous with my 2 iced coffees every morning....

 

I wish they had a bar next to the smoking area on 5, that would have been perfect ;)...it was a pain in the butt running to the atrium bar for a Cosmo or martini. So sorry your hubby was dissed on 11 aft...some people are so rude.

 

Now I'm sorry I didn't pop in at the Red Frog...I'm not a beer person, so figured why bother. I think (now) major mistake!

Have a great time, and if you stop at Alchemy, tell Annamaria and Teodora that Debbie says HI, and I miss them. I spent 33 days with them and AnnaMaria made me some killer drinks. Try the Jager Martini..I don't really like licorice, but this martini was really good and not to licoricey (my word..haha)
