....... and we have a General Election on 8th June .... Happy days!

YES!!?? Just read this major news this morning. Somewhat surprised!! Have not a chance to get my "analysis" and perspective as what exactly this means. Plus, how things will play out during this quick, upcoming election in the UK. My first reaction was to check the details and background from Jeff. I'm all "in" to learn and understand this election very closely.

As we prepare to depart June 9 for Portugal, Spain and France, I am also following with strong interest the crazy election situation going on now in France. Their "round one" run-off happens this Sunday and then a final ballot choice between the top two candidates is on May 7. There are also the questions about Putin and Russia being "interested" in these major elections in other key countries. So much to chew about and consider!! Additional reactions and insights? Looking forward to following these election developments more.

THANKS! Enjoy! Terry in Ohio

Terry,

the election is simply to seek a mandate for the current government to do the best they can and for that solution to be the end game without the constant bickering and subversion by other parties and the Lords.

They will get that mandate, the opposition parties will be weakened and we all push on.

Have a great trip.

Greetings Coolers! We have brilliant sunshine today after a weekend of mostly rain.

Thanks J for the comment on the pics! Here are a few more from the morning market in St. Remy de Provence.

How about some artichokes?

And maybe some rabbit to go with?

Or perhaps some mackerel?

Or maybe chicken?

Or let's stop at the paella stand.

Appreciate this excellent summary from Jeff. Very helpful and narrowly focused as to the key issues and most important questions. Any guesses and background for how the "train wreck" in France gets sorted out with their two upcoming elections?

THANKS! Enjoy! Terry in Ohio

Mysty .... glorious pictures proving that Frances and Mysty are a winning combination. :) Thanks ... they are great and very much looking forward to more

Terry, the French elections are complex and the most likely outcome to me as an ill-informed spectator is that Macron and Le Pen will be the two tops in the first round. However it seems to me that even if Le Pen gets the most votes in the first round thus providing some hope for the far-right, that it is unlikely she will gain the presidency as she would more likely lose in the consolidation effect of the second round.

This will however embolden the right elsewhere in Europe and might make polls in other countries "more interesting ".

It really doesn't matter in the longer EU game as the more the EU circles the wagons and seeks to disregard the clear trajectory of citizens of subjugated states wanting less centralisation and more democracy the quicker the likelihood of implosion.

Thanks so much Terry and J! J....you are too kind! :) Frances does most of the work and she is a real performer! I did experiment with the "artistic" settings in her repertoire during the sea days. I'll post a couple of them tomorrow.

Lovely market pictures!

I'm exhausted tonight after an EARLY morning schedule and not enough sleep last night. I made tacos tonight.... sorry no pictures. I try to stick to authentic. Marinated beef sliced thin and cooked in cast iron. Soft corn tortillas, salsa (I always have my homemade on hand), diced onion, and cilantro. Nothing fancy, but delish!

I too am interested in what is going on in the UK... that and the news here seems to imply we will be in WWIII with N Korea and Russia any day now.

I heard Russian nuclear bombers were "escorted" out of Alaskan airspace today.

Times are certainly interesting.

Shots, I am rather scared of your info regarding the "escorting" of Russian nuclear bombers out of our airspace. I will look out for details as this is quite unnerving. Hopefully, nothing major will ensue, but we need to keep each other abreast of any developments. I wish I were enjoying your tacos... DH is coming late and I had just leftovers.

Greetings Coolers! More rain expected today and continuing into Friday. Better than snow but not by much!

Cam...thanks for your comment on the market pics.

Here are a few shots taken during sea days using some "Picture Effects" on Frances and a normal setting shot in Funchal, Madeira.

A "Retro" setting shot of the deck chair:

Have a great day all and keep smiling (even as the world seems to be spinning in a dangerous direction).

Thanks Cam and J!

Cam...we all have different abilities and interests. That's what makes the people in our world so interesting and diverse! I really suck at cooking and gave up driving because I'm not good at that either. But there are things I can do a fairly credible job of and not kill anyone in the process. :)

J.....Frances is so much fun to play with. Even when I mess up she manages to provide something I can work with.

Hello Coolers.......

It's so good to be home but still recovering from a day of travelling yesterday.....even short haul these days seems to tire me out and the transit through Nice airport was not a good one at all due to the incompetent EasyJet ground staff...😡

The cruise was enjoyable and the ship is quite beautiful but there were many issues with inexperienced crew many of whom were on first contracts who seemed to think it fine to challenge guests who complained or didn't go with the flow and at times service bordered on rudeness with attitude.

By the end of the voyage we all agreed that we sorely missed the main restaurant!

We also missed the very relaxed ambience of The Spirit and her lovely crew.....so I shall be giving the Muse a Miss for the foreseeable future.

Two new ships are on the horizon so I was told...launch due in 2020.......

Great pics Mysty......I shall try and catch up with all the cooler goings on when I've rested.....

Happy Day All

S ☺️

Soapy,

As we both know you are a lot more forgiving and positive than me. We're all different. If stuff continuously doesn't meet expectations and staff get attitude issues then I get grumpy. I don't like either rudeness towards or from staff and I won't tolerate either. I say things.

I'm really underwhelmed by all you've experience ie both posted and privately, and I had hoped that on paper Muse might have been our lead in back becuse I liked the idea of a range of restaurants to choose from spontaneously. I don't understand how they can't cook a decent pizza in a specialist pizza restaurant on an Italian ship. It is unbelievable.

If I had found on day one that my chosen place of eating wasn't available and I was told where I'm eating and when and what I'm wearing then it'd become a bit of an obsession for the rest of the cruise. The problem then is you think you need to queue early. So which do you choose? So if you queue early at a restaurant that is booked whether really or tables kept back for bribers then you find yourself joining the ends of queues at other restaurants after they have opened. As someone says before you end up going from place to,place begging for food?

All this uncertainty and palaver may be OK for some but not me.

Something occured to me looking through the Cooler and other threads. That is how talented coolers are! I know I shouldn't be suprised but we are seeing some great photography and some great food, and people are also trying to help others. And most posts are nice, and generous and appreciative of others.

It is of course the way, things should be, but it hasn't always been so, and it is nice to see it so.
