Finally getting to a diffrent level in crown and anchor.

So the wife and I are going to make the jump from gold to platinum this next cruise. I know for some of you out there thats not major since many are diamond or above. But is there anything we should be aware of since that is hapening during the cruise. Or does C&A take care of all that later with mailers hoping you book another cruise using what little sales they have for members?

A little background. The wife and I both worked for RCCL shore side for a number of years. Her in groups and me in loyalty. The program has changed so much since then. so im not even 100% shure what they do shipboard for passing milestones anymore.

You can get a robe delivered to your room for use during the cruise. Ask your cabin steward. You get two free pulls in the casino.

I turned Platinum on my last cruise. I was all excited to book my next cruise and get the balcony discount. I booked two weeks ago when they offered every third night free, plus $150 bonus discount. It turns out the free nights can be combined with the C&A Balcony Discount, but the bonus discount cannot be combined, so I did not get the C&A Balcony Discount.

 

Then this past weekend they offered every third night free plus $150 OBC, but the OBC also cannot be combined with the C&A Balcony Discount.

 

It looks like you can only use the C&A discount when they are not offering other bonuses. That doesn't do me any good.

I wish they had more then just a welcome gift and drink especially when it is 25 more points to go from Platinum to Emerald. It seems pointless going from Platinum to Emerald.

I'm platinum now and will be emerald after my next cruise NEXT YEAR lol it's hard to move up when you can't cruise all the time! Congrats to diamond members and above!

We hit 140 back last June on our Norway Navigator cruise. We are at 152 after Anthem in September. We didn't receive a block. We will hit Diamond plus after our Ovation cruise that sails Friday. Don't expect a block and don't really want another pound to lug home from China, but it is strange how some people get them and I never do. Never got diamond pin either. Must have to try to acquire these things?

I don't think there's very much difference between gold and platinum or even emerald. It's mostly psychological to keep people thinking they can't switch cruiselines.

My last cruise was my first as Diamond and it was a great experience. I enjoyed the free picture, the Happy Hour and the 24 hour period of internet. I don't think I'll reach Diamond Plus anytime soon (maybe the next 3 years) but I would like to try the status matching on Celebrity and MSC in the next two years.

I'm about to take my first Celebrity cruise, although it is only a 2 night cruise. I set up my Captain's Club account thinking that I would have to contact Celebrity for the status match. My account is showing as Elite to start with and I didn't have to do a thing!

Yes.

 

You can once your Nov sailing points post and get to Platinum, but depending on the agent you talk to, it may trigger a reprice.

I didn't mind the Emerald offering which I believe was getting the robes to use on board. Hot tub fan here and the robes were a nice touch, I felt.

Sorry to piggy back on this thread. This will be our first sailing as Emerald. I understand we will get a gift of some beverages in the room based on what we select in our preferences. How many cans/bottles do we get? DH and I are both emerald and selected Diet Coke.

Cruise points accumulate seperately for each cruise line. Even though you will be Select on Celebrity, you might have zero Celebrity points.

Crystal block starts at 140 cruise points, I believe, and then every 70 points after.

 

Diamond level doesn't mean you're at 140 yet.

Most changes to a reservation (adding the C&A discount is a bit subjective, hence you or may not trigger it) usually triggers the reprice to the current prevailing rate.

No, you will be whatever corresponds to your current RCI level - it is permanent (except when you are a declared significant other).
