Just off the Sunshine.. literally! Any questions?

Which dining room is "Your time" dining on the Sunshine?

 

On the Glory it was the front dining room and there was always cigarette smoke from the casino wafting in which made it gross. I'd like to avoid the front dining room on the Sunshine.

 

 

 

I think someone said sunrise dining room was for anytime dining, which is aft. The sunset dining room is in the middle and below the casino I believe

For most recent Sunshine cruisers. Two quick questions. Who is the entertainer in piano bar and what is the Platinum gift ?

The front dining room on the Sunshine is assigned seating on deck 3. No where near the casino. Casino is on deck 5.

 

The aft dining room is on deck 3 and 4. Deck 3 is YTD. However you have to go to deck 5 to get your YTD seat assignment each day. ( it is an easy process. If they have a table ready for you, you proceed to deck 3 to your table. If you are given a pager, then you can wait in the Ocean Plaza and enjoy the music or have a drink at the Alchemy Bar )

Quick question. Our Sunshine cruise leaves August 7th and we were just wondering if they do any theme nights. I have heard that some do like an 80's night and such, or a jersey night. We want to pack appropriate attire if so. Can you help with that? TIA.

Been a number of years since my last cruise but currently looking into an Eastern Caribbean cruise for June 2018. So reading reviews and am not familiar with the Sunshine.........is she the rename of an older ship? Also, there used to be spirit class, i.e. Miracle, Pride, etc. Is that still true? Once upon a time, that seemed to be the favored class. The Alchemy Bar.........is there a special significance?

Sunshine used to be Destiny. Alchemy Bar is just fun way to try different drinks. The bartenders can get mighty creative. Tell them what flavors you like and let them create something for you.

 

Going on the Sunshine for a quick four day in October.

I see in your signature that you have also been on the Vista. I am planning a family cruise for Spring Break with a 15 and 16 year old and cant decide between the 8 Day Vista or 8 Day Sunshine. There is also a 7 day on the Magic that looks good too. I was wondering if you liked one more than the other? Trying to get feedback from people who have sailed them before. Thanks in Advance for any feedback or suggestions.

Cruising on the Sunshine in 53 days!!! Thank you for the positive review. Was the pool deck as obnoxious as people are posting it is? Is the Mongolian Wok that I'm hearing about part of JiJi's? TIA!:)

 

I am going to be on the Sunshine in 44 days! My first time. Am excited. Just so you know JiJi's offers a free lunch apparently.

How crowded did everything feel? We were on the Sunshine over Xmas 2013 and I have to admit it was the most crowded I've ever felt on a carnival cruise.

 

It felt extremely crowded because it was spring break and there were A LOT of kids.

I highly suggest the Vista. We are doing it again this December. It's a gorgeous ship with all of the bells and whistles. The Sunshine was great, don't get me wrong, but the Vista is top notch.

How's the overall condition of the ship? We're looking to go next February on the 8 day Southern itinerary. Thanks in advance for your help!

The old nostalgia is definitely still there, but the overall condition was good. If anything, the cabins seemed to be the most outdated.

I sailed on the Sunshine July 10-18. Piano bar singer was Roddy, and I was definitely not a fan. Stopped in the first night and left after two songs. Good piano player, but he doesn't do much to get the crowd involved and his accent made it hard to understand parts.

Five day Bahamas (Half Moon Cay, Nassau and Freeport).

 

This was our first time on the Sunshine, although we are experienced cruisers.

We were concerned about it being only 5 days because our shortest cruise to date is 7 days, but it was a great experience.

 

Alchemy was AMAZING!

Javorka, Parviz and Cesar started as our bartenders, quickly became friends and by the end of the cruise, were family.

If you want to be entertained and enjoy some delicious handcrafted cocktails, they are a must.

Tell them that Steven & James sent you.

 

We ate at JiJi's twice for dinner, Cucina del Capitano once for dinner and of course, the Steakhouse one night.

We also ate in the dining room one night, but did not enjoy it at all.

Food was bland and service was slow.

 

With that said, JiJi's is a MUST! The pork belly was the most delicious thing I had eaten all week.

 

Lido food was "ok". It was just you typical buffet fare, nothing to write home about.

 

Entertainment was great, with your run of the mill Carnival shows, but the Entertainment team really made it. JJ from England was hands down the best! B.Lo, Brad, Mason, Taylor, Denise and Jay from LA were all phenomenal as well.

Sailed July 10-18, and I agree with what you siad about Javorka, Parviz & Cesar! Loved spending time with them each evening. We went there every nght before dinner, as did a few other griups, and we became an "Alchemy Family" by the end of thr trip!

Thanks for all the info.

 

Going in early Nov and just curious about the serenity deck being right across the "party deck" from the big screen/DJ/loudspeakers.

 

If you went to serenity, did you hear the "noise" from across the deck coming from the DJ/big screen/etc.?
