Best option in the casino?

We are heading out on Ecstasy next month, and my wife and my friend's wife will surely pick slots as their game of choice. What slot machines have you guys had the best luck on? I am a card guy, so I can't give her advice on which ones to stick with. Penny slots, nickel slots, dollar slots?

Any advice is appreciated!

(and yes, I know this is a most YMMV type question, not expecting an answer that will retire us both)

Best advise, stay out of the casino. Cruise ship slots are notoriously tight

No no no! Go to the casino, play all the games!

It's always fun for us to watch folks who so easily fall victim to the grip of intermittent reinforcement.

Wow, a few snowflakes who don't gamble. Ok. Now I will await a few relevant answers from people who actually enjoy a little gambling for fun.

If we felt we needed money to get by, gambling wouldn't be the first course of action, and if money was tight, we wouldn't pick that as our choice of fun. Also, if I thought my wife would "fall victim to the grip of intermittent reinforcement," she wouldn't be playing slots. There is a reason it's called gambling.

But hey, thanks for your laughable responses, much appreciated!

Man, anyone who enjoys gambling knows the answer to this question. The luck of the draw and the Random Number Generator on the CPU.

My wife and I enjoy the slots. We both had our Drinks On Us cards by the end of the 2nd day. Wife came back from the cruise with money, I didn't. Next time, I'll come back with money and she won't.

The biggest payouts that I saw was on the penny slots. A max play could be $3.50 up to $8.80, whereas on the $1 slots, max play would be $3. There were a couple of $5 slots with max play of $25

always that one person telling others how to or not to spend their money

Anywho, I tend to spend most of the cruise on the penny slots, always playing something that gives me bonus spins, like the Wheel of Fortunes or other similar types. The last day I'll bump it up to quarter or dollar slots depending on how nice or ugly the casino has been to me that week. Last day on the Valor in March, I hit $180 on a quarter machine on my 3rd spin, cashed out, went back to a penny one and won another $40 on the second spin. Cashed out and called it a day.

I consider the casino to be part of my cruise/vacation entertainment. I personally dont find the ships casino much "tighter" than my home town casino. Now that one is TIGHT!

My only advice is to set aside a daily gambling budget. When your daily allotment is gone, quit for the day, go do something else. It is a cruise ship and there will a multitude of other things to do and enjoy. If you come out ahead, keep track of that too. For me, who is very much budget oriented, I play usually only penny or 2 cent slots, and very rarely the max in, and I avoid the progressive machines, where you are best to play max. I dont usually win lots, but have won 400.00 or so a couple of times.

Just dont blow your budget in the first day or two!

Also, if you go in the casino, after 3pm or so, hope you have a high tolerance for cigarette smoke. On the last few ships I have been on, it has been very thick and and uncomfortable enough for me to avoid it like the plague after a certain hour.

Have a great cruise.

I also like the penny machines that have "bonus games." Do I expect to win big? No. But I do like to hit small things that will at least keep me going for awhile. Last cruise I hit $80ish on a machine (I'm sorry I don't remember which) and that kept me going most of the cruise. (I don't gamble a ton.) I tend to sit at a machine, spin it a few times, if nothing happens then I switch machines.

Happy cruising!

yep, extra spins and bonus games on a penny machine can keep you busy for quite a while on your initial "donation" into the machine ;p. I played one machine for probably an hour on the same $20

This +1 for some gambling is entertaining, some find sitting in a chair by the pool looking into space for 8 hours

Saw a woman win $20,000 on a penny Quick Hit on the Sunshine. She was playing max bet of $2.00. It really is a timing thing. My DH won the random bonus of $800 on the lucky 88 playing minimum .88 cent bet.

The wife and I both play penny slots but she' a max better. So she's basically betting a dollar every time. I play about .80 or $0.90 at a time. We play the machines that you can play 5 reels and play all 20 lines. She cleans up pretty good on those machines. I would happily post some pictures of some winnings. But then I would get FLAMED for taking pictures in the casino. Because we all know it's against the rules. People will cry.

We saw a lady win $2,300 the other night on pennies.

I would try to play very little or none at all on the last night of your cruise. The machines get real tight at that point.

I like 5 and $10 blackjack.

Good luck💰

At approximately what amount spent in a machine do they start perking your drinks?

1500 points gets you free drinks. But you can't put a dollar value to it. Because it varies from machine to machine. And table to table.

Each cruise the points start over.

I saw a lady the other night, on her 3rd day. She already had almost 13000 points. Thats some spending.

I'm ready to be chastised for looking. Flame away.

I thought I was the high roller. But then I'm on a CCL.

If you know correct strategy, videopoker can be good. But the paytable for under .50 are horrible. We mostly play dollars ($5 a hand) and have had quite a few hand pays. Of course there are some trips where we lose lose lose. WhenVP isn't paying we play pennies for around $3 a spin. China Shores can be really good if you get a lot of spins in the bonus round. Just play what you enjoy and good luck in the casino!
