GTO-Girl Posted August 10, 2017 #1 Share Posted August 10, 2017 I have a friend who trying to pick between these two ships. I have not sailed either, so looking for advice for those who have.... Thanks!!!
ksuds Posted August 10, 2017 #2 Share Posted August 10, 2017 Oh my gosh! You can't get any different between the two ships. If ports don't matter and the ship is what is important, I would take Navigator in a heartbeat. Empress is a great ship, but small and not a lot of things to offer that the larger ships have. GTO-Girl Posted August 10, 2017 Author #3 Share Posted August 10, 2017 I was leaning towards the Navigator too, because of the size. They have only taken one cruise and it was on the Oasis this past June. Now they are hooked!!! I think they are going with family so can only do the shorter cruise. I just wanted to give them the best advice I can and I knew I would get the answers here. Thanks!!
39august Posted August 10, 2017 #4 Share Posted August 10, 2017 I believe they would be disappointed with Empress if their only other cruise was on mega-ship Oasis. And if family includes children, they definitely need Navigator.
voyager70 Posted August 10, 2017 #5 Share Posted August 10, 2017 100% Navigator
Joe12 Posted August 10, 2017 #6 Share Posted August 10, 2017 Navigator all the way. If they have kids and have only cruised Oasis, Empress would surely be a huge let down.
George C Posted August 10, 2017 #7 Share Posted August 10, 2017 Love navigator taking our 3rd cruise on her in a few months, prefer this size or larger for the entertainment
Biker19 Posted August 10, 2017 #8 Share Posted August 10, 2017 Cruised both within a month of each other. Other than the cabin size and Flowrider favoring Navigator, I could live with Empress for a big enough discount.
Clarea Posted August 11, 2017 #9 Share Posted August 11, 2017 Navigator without hesitation.

danp Posted August 11, 2017 #11 Share Posted August 11, 2017 the empress could be a life boat on the NOTS
vegas7df Posted August 11, 2017 #12 Share Posted August 11, 2017 Without a doubt Navigator it's a great ship and larger than Empress with more to do.
PIR8LUVR Posted August 11, 2017 #13 Share Posted August 11, 2017 I sailed on Empress last summer because it was a great price. We got a junior suite and I was so disappointed. I had a junior suite once before on Jewel, and it didn't compare. Empress is fine, but it is a very small and basic ship. I'd go with Navigator. Ocean Boy Posted August 11, 2017 #14 Share Posted August 11, 2017 Navigator. The only way I would even consider Empress is if it were going somewhere that I really wanted to go and I couldn't get there any other way including swimming to it. cb at sea Posted August 12, 2017 #16 Share Posted August 12, 2017 Navigator....great size....lots to do...bigger cabins (although cabins are by no means the size of hotel rooms...know that going in!)

BlueEyesMI Posted August 15, 2017 #19 Share Posted August 15, 2017 Poor Empress.. no love for her! I have yet to sail on a big ship (but I am in 47 days!!) but I was on the Empress last year and got one heck of a deal. Without all the fancy amenities there were very few children and it was super quiet and relaxing! We just had a room with a window (there are really no suites or jr. suites), and it was perfect - esp. for the right price! I wouldn't hesitate to sail on her again, unless I want all the fancy things.
Russ Lomas Posted August 15, 2017 #20 Share Posted August 15, 2017 I would recommend the Navigator over the Empress all the way from what I know of the ships. We have not sailed the Navigator yet (but will in March) but have been on all three of the Freedom class ships (slightly larger than the Navigator) and love them. Poor Empress.. no love for her! The Oasis class ships are beautiful, though very different than standard ships in so that you do not feel you are at sea so much but in a LARGE floating hotel. Lots to do to celebrate your 50th.
