Actually the smoking violations were throughout the ship, don’t get me wrong, my wife smokes but only in designated areas, there was a captain change on the Feb. 17 sailing, but doubt that what happened was because of that, I spoke to security the second last day of the cruise and he stated that there were lots of issues on this cruise. On the first two cruises we saw the Captain all over the ship, but on the third segment, never saw him once

Following ... am considering a cruise on Ruby.

What is your itinerary?

We have 2 booked on Ruby end of March and May...both 7 days....I am not concerned...as sometimes you just hit a wild pax mix....typically on shorter cruises with "beach weather."

Having a spouse that smokes made you far more aware of the violations as you know where designated areas are. On some cruises I have seen smokers in undesignated areas, usually in the early morn and late evening.

In Skywalkers they do have the smoking area far from the dance floor....so I suppose that can get a little sticky after many have had a few drinks, especially if more than a few smokers are dancing.

Well, your next cruises, should certainly be an improvement....

It's the Joe Kenda/Homicide Hunter cruise. I would have thought it was a charter but another CC poster said they were on one last month and it was regular passengers AND this group on board.

Did they have lobster on formal night? Also, was the Platinum/Elite get together that they usually have from 5-7 pm--- is it in Skywalkers? Thanks.

Sent from my iPad using Forums

It was a 5 day cruise so we did not have a formal night.

Yes, the platinum/elite get togethers were held in skywalkers.

You know how sometimes you might be walking by MUTS and stop for a brief moment to catch a glimpse of what's playing , I made the mistake.....sitting on the end of a lounger super close to the pool....suddenly 3 guys..who had been at the bar decided to jump in the pool all at once....you should have seen the look on their faces when they heard my scream and saw how soaked I was....it was so funny.....gave everyone a good laugh in the area including me...

BTW this was the 10pm showing so just a little chilly.......BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR........

Oh my, you had to be freezing!

A few comments, we were on the Ruby for the Feb.3 sailing and there was happy hour everyday at 3 in the Explorers and also in Skywalkers, some nights in Skywalkers the time for happy hour was 10-11 and sometimes 11-12, we were also on the Feb. 10 cruise and the happy hour was the same. We were also on the Feb. 17 cruise, which was the 5 day cruise and there was no happy hour on the ship. This cruise was the 5 day cruise and this was the cruise that turned into a bad one. There were a lot of younger crowd on the ship, and believe me, I can party hard but know to do it at the right time. And yes, the Captain did come on over the speaker phone in the early hours of the morning, looking for a passenger, the message came out four times, then there was a stand down that the passenger was located. That didn’t bother us at all as this might have been an emergency, but turns out they found the woman passenger passed out in the Crown grill, turns out she was partying hard in the Skywalkers then passed out on the stairs and ended up somehow in the Crown grill. In my opinion, how did she get so intoxicated, I would say ask Princess, they served her, here is what we experienced on our last part of our back to back to back cruise, there were people smoking everywhere, in the Casino in the no smoking areas and also on Formal night, and passengers butting out on the carpet, I approached Ronnie who was a Princess employee in the suit and he laughed at me and said there is lots of that going on. On our last night, we went to Skywalkers and the party was on, there was a female Officer there for a little time, then she left, then some of the younger passengers opened up the back door for their smoke break and were told they couldn’t and then a little time later they went to the far back starboard side and sat down smoking, not just cigarettes but then out came the pot, no one said anything to them, we the left. Don’t get me wrong, we can party just as hard as the young ones, but there has to be a time and place for this to happen. We were on the Island Princess in August with the Sip and Sail and never got happy like what just happened. We spoke with several passengers who are Elite just like us and their feelings are the same. My wife has written the letter to Princess looking for answers on how they let this happen on their cruise ship. Some people will say don’t let a whole bunch of party people ruin your cruise, they didn’t ruin our cruise, just left a bad taste for how Princess staff knew what was going on and let it continue. We are looking forward to hearing from Princess on our comments

Was this a large group that was on board? A few years ago there was a large group on board and it was horrible. The way these people behaved was unbelievable. They were all constantly trashed and their behavior was horrible. I could not believe the language. At sail away they were all drunk and had blowup dolls. I cannot believe that princess allowed this to happen. There were approximately 1200 of them on board so you can imagine what our cruise was like. We should've complained as it totally ruined our cruise. And people complain about Carnival.

Actually, we did have a formal night. It was the second night.

And in response to Birdieman1, that's the third place I heard the missing passenger from Aloha deck was located.

Wasn't planning to sign in this morning need to get some work done;)....but I totally just had my big laugh for the day..blow up dolls, I can totally see that......we have been lucky overall.....have certainly had groups but most have been, less than a few hundred, more interesting than disruptive and obnoxious. One group that I always remember were the "swingers" who all wore wrist bands, during the course of the cruise DH & I met many and chatted, I would have never know, until I finally asked about the band.......cruising is full of surprises.....of and on the ship.

We too, were on the February 17th cruise. A lot of schools now have the President's Day week off. I heard we had between 400-500 kids on cruise. This was our least favorite of our 3 Princess cruises. The wake up calls at 3:30 in the morning certainly gets your heart racing thinking the worst that could have happened. I don't think anyone went back to sleep after that. PJ - cruise director was terrible! We went to the Marriage game show and he was late and then proceeded to say that Ana, the assistant cruise director that started the game show for him, was the "worst assistant cruise director ever". She was clearly upset by his comments. The rest of the show was uncomfortable and disjointed. I spoke to one of the couples that was playing and they thought that possibly the crew had been drinking to much. The service in the Sanctuary was terrible. Had to ask for a blanket 3 times, among other issues. We did speak to the person in charge of buffet and asked why they didn't serve lox for breakfast anymore. He said that you have to ask for it and they will bring it to you. Good to know for the future. We still enjoyed our time but we probably won't do anything less than 7 days in the future.

Wow, that's unbelievable for a Princess cruise!!! If you think 500 kids was difficult...our Thanksgiving cruise on Emerald had over 750 kids! I was miserable and will never cruise another holiday with so many kids aboard. Staff did not control the kids nor did the parents (at least most of them).

Our experience wasn't too bad - there was more noise in the hallways and from other balconies than I'm used to, but not tragic. And some kids running around occasionally, but not excessive. Of course, we didn't go to many of the family friendly venues.

I did observe people bringing their small children to MUTS when it was showing Mark Felt - the man who brought down the White House. Fortunately, they didn't show up at 3 Billboards in the theater.

Thank you for correcting me. I confused this cruise with my four-day HAL cruise that's coming up soon. That's what happens when you're posting on two boards. Yes, it was the second night which is why we booked the crown grill that night. It was really good!

We were also at the Marriage game show. I have no idea why the CD was late but I think he was just teasing Anna. I don't think she was upset at least it did not seem that way to us at all. We were present at 3 games that night and had a ton of fun.

I'm not sure if it was where we were sitting but when they were showing Mark Felts at MUTS the sound was so loud that it hurt our ears and the speakers sounded like speakers do when they are cracked. It was so painful that we had to leave. Did you have that problem? The sound was OK when we watched Eddie the Eagle.

That happened to me once the week before Thanksgiving and I had to book the sanctuary to get away from it all. Some people do not watch their children, at all.

Was the "Swinger" cruise on Princess, lol?

The group that we had problems with all dressed up as Santa Claus the day we were in Ensenada. We were told, that way if someone was missing they would just say look for Santa. It was impossible to get a drink at the bar, get in a hot tub/pool or to find a lounge chair. People were literally passed out as we were leaving Ensenada. Terrible timing since I had several new cruisers with me that I had told how relaxing and nice Princess was. Literally the first thing that they saw upon boarding were people with blowup dolls on the Lido deck.

If you have any questions, please ask me now before I forget the answers :'):'):')

How 'formal' is formal night? I guess I'm most nervous about dress code. I've never cruised Princess before, and am used to capris and casual top during day & dinner in dining room. I'll be with the Joe Kenda/Homicide Hunter group, so maybe we won't be doing the formal night.

Don't be worried. We did not go to formal night in the MDR; we went to Crown Grill instead. When we went to dinner in the MDR we wore office wear. We saw several people in T-shirts. I don't know if it was our itinerary but no one appeared to be overly dressed. Again, don't worry, just enjoy yourself.

Hello Pam.... It was cool and we had sprinkles in Cabo. We had warm weather the day we left Cabo. On the way back, IT WAS FREEZING!!! It was so cold in the Horizon Court that I could not stand it. But we had a wonderful time!

Movies....

Battle of the sexes (2017)

Mark Felt: The man who brought down the White House

Murder on the Orient express (2017)

Thor: Ragnarok

Eddie the Eagle

Grease

The Lego Batman movie

Beauty and the beast

Guardians of the galaxy volume two

The Princess bride

The shape of water

Three billboards outside ebbing, Missouri

Please forgive all of the grammatical errors as I am having problems with this webpage and my iPad making auto corrections.

#1: Besides MUTS, any movies shown in the Princess Theater or other venue?

Bags of popcorn, bar snacks, and pretzels still available for MUTS?

#2: Did you go zip lining?

Thanks,
