For those asking about Happy Hour, we were on the 7-day Mexican Riviera on the Ruby (Feb10-Feb17), and they did have Happy Hour each day between 3 and 4 at the Wheelhouse Bar. It is buy one, get one for $1, must be the same drink.

It was listed in the Patter each day. :)

We had the Happy hours on the January 20-27 sailing as well. Maybe they just do it on the 7 day trips? I do recall someone commenting about an escape room opportunity. Definitely Princess, not sure what ship. I didn't notice anything in our Patters.

FYI, we saw many active whales on the way out Cabo and up the coast, including a lot of breaching, quite spectacular. We even saw some the next day, as we made our way back to LA.

We were in the pool a couple of days but the other days were way too cold and windy to be enjoyable. The couple of days it was nice enough both pools were pretty packed with kids.

Yes, they were packed with kids. One little girl screamed constantly at the top of her lungs and she sounded like a wild cat :o

I don't get it, some people on this thread said their was no happy hour on the Ruby Princess the week of Feb. 10-17 and your saying there was. I sure hope your right because were on the Ruby Princess starting March 10th for a California coastal cruise. Thanks for keeping our hopes up! :)

They had sign ups in the library at a specified time listed in the Patters. Times went pretty fast. All were in the evening.

Thanks for the info.....Hopefully the Staff member or CD who runs it will still be on our sailing......you know how that goes....I figure there might be a possibility on our Pacific Coastal...but highly unlikely on our cruise in May to Alaska.

Sailing with 2 different people tooooo...DH on PC...who hates puzzles... and adult son, Alaska who loves puzzles.

Who do you think I cruised with on RCI when I did the puzzle room before....;p:D son & I worked real well solving segments of the puzzle on separate teams, of course.....

Again, thanks

A few comments, we were on the Ruby for the Feb.3 sailing and there was happy hour everyday at 3 in the Explorers and also in Skywalkers, some nights in Skywalkers the time for happy hour was 10-11 and sometimes 11-12, we were also on the Feb. 10 cruise and the happy hour was the same. We were also on the Feb. 17 cruise, which was the 5 day cruise and there was no happy hour on the ship. This cruise was the 5 day cruise and this was the cruise that turned into a bad one. There were a lot of younger crowd on the ship, and believe me, I can party hard but know to do it at the right time. And yes, the Captain did come on over the speaker phone in the early hours of the morning, looking for a passenger, the message came out four times, then there was a stand down that the passenger was located. That didn’t bother us at all as this might have been an emergency, but turns out they found the woman passenger passed out in the Crown grill, turns out she was partying hard in the Skywalkers then passed out on the stairs and ended up somehow in the Crown grill. In my opinion, how did she get so intoxicated, I would say ask Princess, they served her, here is what we experienced on our last part of our back to back to back cruise, there were people smoking everywhere, in the Casino in the no smoking areas and also on Formal night, and passengers butting out on the carpet, I approached Ronnie who was a Princess employee in the suit and he laughed at me and said there is lots of that going on. On our last night, we went to Skywalkers and the party was on, there was a female Officer there for a little time, then she left, then some of the younger passengers opened up the back door for their smoke break and were told they couldn’t and then a little time later they went to the far back starboard side and sat down smoking, not just cigarettes but then out came the pot, no one said anything to them, we the left. Don’t get me wrong, we can party just as hard as the young ones, but there has to be a time and place for this to happen. We were on the Island Princess in August with the Sip and Sail and never got happy like what just happened. We spoke with several passengers who are Elite just like us and their feelings are the same. My wife has written the letter to Princess looking for answers on how they let this happen on their cruise ship. Some people will say don’t let a whole bunch of party people ruin your cruise, they didn’t ruin our cruise, just left a bad taste for how Princess staff knew what was going on and let it continue. We are looking forward to hearing from Princess on our comments

You know how sometimes you might be walking by MUTS and stop for a brief moment to catch a glimpse of what's playing , I made the mistake.....sitting on the end of a lounger super close to the pool....suddenly 3 guys..who had been at the bar decided to jump in the pool all at once....you should have seen the look on their faces when they heard my scream and saw how soaked I was....it was so funny.....gave everyone a good laugh in the area including me...

BTW this was the 10pm showing so just a little chilly.......BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR........

Your experience sounds terrible......I figured pot would be more prevalent on ships sailing out of CA, now with our new law taking effect in January......yes, I have encountered the smell before on past 3 & 4 day sailings on my balcony, on one cruise my friend reported it several times and nothing was done, to our knowledge.

Hopefully Princess will take notice of your concerns......IMHO they really don't care about Elite pax...they want the new cruisers...but they certainly don't want trouble......and over nights in CABO...can attract that.....smoking all over..destroying property, by as you say "butting out on the carpet".......now that just sucks..... safety should be the main concern.......

Going on the Ruby tomorrow for the 5 day Cabo cruise.I do not think there should be that many kids as last week was a holdiay week.It seems like maybe alot of kids or colleges were out of school.Don't know.Originally was going to book the 17th cruise but changed to the 26th.Time will tell.

This is what I’m afraid of — we are booked end of March on the 5 day to Cabo, and it is a big spring break week (which is why we had to book it, because we have several college students in the family).

The college kids in our group aren’t into partying (except one, but not excessively) so not worried about them so much. They won’t cause problems and know how to avoid the people that are. My youngest, however, is just shy of 17. She is not remotely into partying, and is a rare teen not interested in trying to act older than she is. She is in a cabin with one of the college students. And I’m having pre-trip anxiety for her. Don’t want to bore her by keeping her with the adults all the time, but also don’t want her put in any position of being victimized by rowdy spring breakers. Thinking she may just have to be bored, and/or spend a lot of time hanging with her older siblings.

We do have a larger cabin with aft balcony to retreat to — thank heavens. It’s appalling that the cruise line lets so much of this poor behavior go unaddressed. Maybe they will take a more pro-active approach after the recent issues on the Carnival sailings in Australia.

.... We were also on the Feb. 17 cruise, which was the 5 day cruise and there was no happy hour on the ship. This cruise was the 5 day cruise and this was the cruise that turned into a bad one. ....

Were the problems just with the smoking and Skywalkers or through out the ship?

I hope your letter to Princess will result in a call to the Captain, Security and all else responsible for what happened...but do not hold your breath and do not expect that you will get an answer.

We have been on a couple of "Spring Break" cruises years ago :mad:and said never, ever again after being awakened with yelling and laughing in the halls at 3 am. In all our 32 Princess cruises those were the only 2 with something like that happening. We try never to book a cruise in March to mid April just for that reason but never would have thought Feb would be a problem. Maybe they were a singles group that were not in College.

We leave tomorrow for the 5 day Cabo and sure hope things will not be like this!
