Upsell... do you lose your OBC or Explore 4?

so close, and yet so far. Got a phone call last week (woke me from a nap!) with an offer to upsell to Neptune suite for approx. $900 pp for 12 day med cruise. I said yes (after a brief hesitation,) as we have never been able to afford a Neptune and the look awesomely wonderful! In the time it took for the agent to put me on hold to get a room assigned, she came back and they were sold out!! Bummer to raise my hopes and then disappoint me!! could not have been 5 minutes!!!

Question, would I have lost our $175pp OBC? Our explore 4 we purchased??? just wondering.

hopefully we will get this offer when my 91 year old mom and I are cruising the Caribbean! She would love it!

I am a 4 star and this is the very first time I even had the chance!

We switched cabins 3 times and we still had the same booking number all the way through. Our beverage package purchase and shore excursions were tied to the booking number, so they remained. Also our cabin credits stayed the same, because we moved within our original booking cabin grade. Some cabin credits, like the ones you get for booking onboard, are based on the length of cruise and cabin grade. If you booked a balcony cabin, then moved down to a ocean view or inside, your cabin credits may change. But if you move up, like you were considering, then, if anything, you cabin credit should also increase or, at the very least, stay the same.

I agree with the others. You shouldn't lose anything, but I do think it's always wise to double check and make sure nothing will be lost.

You never know when things can change so always best to check IMO ;)

Same here - we have had more than 10 "upsells" from HAL and never lost anything from the original booking. Now, if you do a "rebook", which means basically cancelling your old reservation and picking up a new one, you could lose some items.

Did your upsell offer come exactly 30 days before your sailing or how many days?

Upsells that are initiated by HAL keep all existing credits and promos. If you contact them for an upsell, you could forfeit these extras. Best to ask each time.

Yes, this is my experience. Kept credits and promos on an upsell offer from HAL. Lost credits and promos on one I initiated. It factored into the equation, though, so I came out ahead.

I think it was shorter than 30 days. I couldn't believe we lost in in 5 minutes! oh well, its a busy med cruise we are on, so we would not have spent much time in the room, but easy come, easy go! I'm hoping for an offer for our next cruise with my 91 year old mom. She would love it!!!

On my cruise in March, it was sold out for Neptunes for a couple of months prior. Then exactly 5 days before sailing I get an email upsell offer and jumped on it (I knew it would not last long). Whole process from getting email to booking confirmed - 4 minutes! Lucky to on the computer at the time of the email.

Can I ask.... did you book through a Travel Agent or with a HAL PCC?
