Power bar

FYI.

Had seen some posts regarding RCCL disallowing power bars of any kind. So, I enquired with them as we are booked on a cruise in March. They responded that power bars are not allowed. Doesn't seem to matter what type they are.

Correct, they are concerned about devices with surge protectors, and it seems some security people have chosen to confiscate all power devices, notwithstanding whether they have surge protection or not.

Its really hit and miss.i just came back from a 7 daydcruise on allure of the season Aug 26- Sept 2 and i packed this power strip in my carry on .

 

They let it in.

This says it has surge protection in the ad. It should not be taken onto a ship even if they do miss it and let it on.

I never found a need for a power bar. The ships usually have 4 plugs (3 on old ships). Most electronics work on either 110 or 240.

Hopefully our resident Chief Engineer will see this, he has a good explanation of just how dangerous power strips are on a ship

LOL- I jumped into this thread because I thought it was regarding the edible power bars :) I was super curious as to why RCI would no longer allow me to bring my protein bars onboard. Looks like I wasn't the only confused person... lol
