Queen Victoria Deck 1

I'm considering a short cruise on the Queen Victoria in January 2019 and I'm looking for advice as to which might be better a standard inside on decks 5,6,7 or a deluxe inside on deck 1 or an ocean view on deck 1.

I rather like the look of the ocean view on deck 1 but I'm concerned there might be noise from the deck above ( Queen's Room, Casino, Golden Lion etc) or from activities of the crew on deck 1.

I'd be most grateful to hear any experiences of deck 1 cabins or any other suggestions as to which of these cabins might be the best choice.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

I was in 1066 on my last cruise and will be in 1065 on my next one. I have travelled in Outside cabins on Deck 1 before in about the same location and have never noticed any noises.

Personally I would choose an Oceanview rather than an Inside because I like natural light.

One friend travelled Inside and then got Norovirus and said it was terrible to be stuck inside like that for 3 days. In those circumstances, a balcony would be better.

We have been in an ocean view on QV on deck 1 and loved it. There was no noise, it was very convenient for the theater, and it was great watching the waves during a storm. Almost like watching the washing machine. Very cool.

The only issue is that there is no launderette on Deck 1 so you have to walk up to deck 4 with your dirty laundry in hand.

the ocean views on deck one are great - quiet and handy, as a solo I take them often as the view of the water against the window is terrific. If given the choice between insides, I'd take the deluxe on deck one over the smaller ones above.

I have sailed QV only twice both mid ships deck one and I agree with everyone's comments about convenient location.

However, in May '18 we sailed in 1065 and it was very quiet we were not disturbed at all, but in September '18 we sailed in 1056 on the opposite side of the ship and if there was anything going on in the Queens Room, be it the 9.15 am Zumba class or the Bands at 11pm you definitely heard it in this cabin.

Both cabins were ocean view and the Force Eight Gale coming out of Korculla was a sight to be seen, QV handled it like a dream.

Happy sailing

Thank you all for your very helpful replies. Lots of positive comments for deck 1 of the QV - excellent. I've just booked an Oceanview on deck 1 for January 6th.

Thanks again.

smashing where you off to?

I loved my Deck 1 cabin on QE. The location was great, no noise, a great ocean view (close to the water), the steadiest area of the ship (best center of gravity), and so easy on a port intensive itinerary to get back to your cabin. Up the gangway and one deck up to your cabin. No elevators necessary.

I don't recommend the Deck 1 outside cabins that are aft of the atrium/Purser's Deck. There is a little ramp leading to the corridor and there is constant vibration underneath. There is also seems to be a lot of staff/crew in these cabins. I didn't stay in one but walked that corridor quite often. So stick to the section of cabins that are between the theater and atrium lobby.
