Sun Princess Not an Upgrade Offer.

We all dream of the elusive upgrade offer, today we got a previously unheard offer - headed as a Moveover offer, then reads as a Downgrade Offer...... Basically an offer to move from a higher level grade cabin, balcony, outside etc,  to an interior, with the offer of a refund of the cruise price plus a $100 credit for a specialty restaurant! The terms then explain you will get the refund money as room credit, to be used on the ship before the end of the cruise! Enticing- maybe not. Has anyone else been offered irresistible this 'perk'?

I haven’t but others have. I understand that the OBC is refundable if you don’t use it all. To me, if you’re flexible, it’s a win/win.

That seems to indicate non-refundable OBC. 

 

I would certainly take the offer if the OBC is refundable. If the OBC is non-refundable, I would have to think long and hard about it.

Yep, our party of 6 got a ridiculous offer from the Sea Princess a few days before our cruise in March this year - forgo our entire cruise, be fully refunded with a complimentary 4 day cruise at a later time in the year including $ towards airfares plus OBC of $100 per cabin. We didn't take the offer as our original cruise was for a particular reason  Clearly someone stuffed up bookings somewhere!

We were offered a move over 2 days before our last cruise. Offer was full refund and a 10 days mexican cruise in 2 balconies.  

 

Several problems with the situation.  2 days before the cruise, no chance to make alternate plans and for 2 of the 4, they work retail and the dates were planned well over a year before.

 

The dates for the mexican cruise(s) they offered us were MUCH cheaper than the 7 day northern (first time itinerary).

 

And we were in a suite.  Granted there were 4 of us in the room, but to downgrade to balcony rooms?  

 

We didn't take it.

2 days before our cruise on Golden Princess in March, we received a move over offer to move from our balcony cabin to an inside for a full refund of our cruise fare in refundable OBC and specialty dining. We jumped at a free cruise!

On the same cruise we dined one night with a couple who had booked a balcony but were upgraded to a suite.

So you never know your luck.

Yes on our world cruise there were lots of downgrade offers.... not for us as you can’t get lower than an inside....lol

 

the OCB is refundable.....

We just received a move down offer on the Regal. We took it. Balcony to an interior (agent offered a 240 sq ft handicapped accessible). Full refund via REFUNDABLE OBC and specialty restaurant. We can do without a balcony for 5 days in rough seas and cold temps.

A question for those who have booked with a discount TA and then get a move over/down offer from Princess with a refund of your cruise fare.

 

Is the refund the amount you paid with the discount TA or is it the list price at the time you booked the cruise?

Hi there, from the email we received it stated as follows - 

Travel agencies will receive a $50.00 bonus commission per cabin if offer is accepted. Please note, cruise fare refund excludes Taxes, Fees & Port Expenses.

I imagine the refund will be the price you paid at the time of booking less the taxes etc mentioned.

I have no idea sorry, but maybe the documents are submitted by your TA to Princess to confirm your reservation.

We've only received one move-over offer--but it came too late for us to take it since I did not read my emails until after getting home, not that we would have at the time since our vacation times had to be planned for specific dates back before we retired. 

 

I'd love to receive a move-down offer.

We were on a 3 day cruise in December in a mini suite, and the day before the cruise they offered us 300.00 in refundable OBC to move to a premium balcony.  We took it, since it was a short cruise, and 300.00 was one fare.  

 

Due to an issue with the change at the last minute we got another 150.00 OBC on another cruise.

The new offer is amazing for anyone it will work for,  it’s just a concern when they repeat emailing people to try and work the numbers. We definitely want to go this cruise and just hope there are no hiccups with the numbers.

Yesterday things really ramped up on the offer front though, three different offers, culminating in this one - so if anyone had decided to wait out and see what more Princess would offer before accepting a Moveover then they  will have got an amazing deal.

No matter how badly I wanted to cruise I would take this in a heartbeat.....amazing offer....free 30 day cruise plus free 21 day cruise plus free 3 or 7 night cruise......unreal!!!

Hi there, yes it is an amazing offer but  I think you have read it wrong, the offer is thirty nights -  made up of - up to 21night plus etc....Sixty nights would be unbelievable- maybe today’s offer ! 😊
