Sbjefm Posted November 9, 2018 #1 Share Posted November 9, 2018 We are booked on a cruise out of New York next May and will be flying in the day before. What is the best place to stay that is not going to cost a fortune and is decent?

There is a wealth of information under the "Ports of Call" section of CC....or ask the question there for more responses.
Rare Noxequifans Posted November 10, 2018 #3 Share Posted November 10, 2018 There is a wide range of hotel choices in NY City with varying prices. Consult TripAdvisor reviews for feedback once you have narrowed your possibilities.

It’s helpful to specify your cruise ship and exact date plus the airport you’re flying into plus your target budget and number of people. There are 3 New York airports and 3 New York cruise ports, so it’s hard to give any kind of good advice without more details.
George C Posted November 10, 2018 #5 Share Posted November 10, 2018 There are two nyc ports then there is New Jersey, we visit nyc every May hotels rates are not too bad at that time I would look at midtown nyc near Times Square lots to do lots of restaurants and very close to Manhattan pier. We always stay at michealanglo but there are lots of cheaper hotels in area.

George C Posted November 17, 2018 #8 Share Posted November 17, 2018 Michealanglo is my favorite hotel anywhere great location, smallest room is over 400 sq ft which is much larger than most, we love the king suite with a bath and a half. Nice bar in lobby , stayed there about ten times. Agree on TripAdvisor.

It depends what you want to do. Ink48 is right near the pier, whereas the other two are more central midtown. The Michalangelo, in particular is likely closest to sights you want to see. (Broadway/Times Square, Rockefeller Center, Fifth Ave, Central Park...) Of course they're all close enough to whatever you're interested in and getting around Manhattan is easy. Rare mskaufman Posted November 21, 2018 #11 Share Posted November 21, 2018 We like staying in the Times Square South area. Sometimes it takes some shopping around but generally have found hotels there that don't break the bank and are walking distance to a lot.
