ocean medallion on royal ?

Just boarded the Royal. Last week they made all of the slot machines in the casino “Ocean Medallion Ready” and allegedly did more work to enable OM, but there’s no visible evidence of that since the cabin doorway screens have not been installed yet. They also put in brand new TVs but live TV isn’t functioning. Sailaway is also delayed by an hour and a half to two hours due to an unspecified “technical problem”. Maybe the TV repair man hasn’t finished adjusting the antenna yet?

Thanks for the update.   I know this isn't related to the thread, but any other obvious changes after wet dock?

Well they did deliver shrink wrapped fully decorated Christmas trees so I imagine the ship will soon look a lot different!  No other changes that I have observed but will post back if I hear anything more.

Please do report back.  I'm very interested since I will be boarding on December 29th.

Good wishes for a pleasant and safe cruise!

Thank you!  We are having a very nice cruise. There are a lot of the Ocean Medallion contractors on the ship working on things and I wouldn’t be surprised if they quietly start up the Medallion service very soon. The TVs in the passenger cabins seem to be fully functioning now as well.   There were some start up issues for the first half of the cruise but all is well now.

I spoke with one of the supervisors onboard for Ocean last cruise (DW said "he looked official") and was told he was returning in March to further install the entertainment aspect onboard.  Whether that will coincide with the launch of the actual Medallion services (i.e. Medallion room access, premium internet) is anyone's guess.  Hopefully it will all roll out simultaneously.

How long ago was that?  We disembarked yesterday and the TVs had the Ocean content by the end of the cruise.  The wiring is all done but they have not installed the screens at each doorway yet.  The round white devices that track your movement are installed all over the ship with a couple in the room including in the bathroom (same as on the Regal, oddly)!  Medallion Net is definitely not up on the Royal yet but that is also being worked on by the onboard technicians.

I also just got off the Royal yesterday and they are working feverishly to install the screens seen above.  I did swipe my card on the screen and it said door unlocked but the interface between the screen and the door is not operable yet.  I continued to hear that it will be up and running fully in March. It seemed like the team that was working on the starboard side of the Dolphin deck installed the screens in less than a day.  Not sure how many teams are on the boat, but at that pace it will not be long until all the physical installations are completed.
