We sail on the Royal on April 6, so it's going to be nice if they have it done by then. It's also going to be nice if they don't.

And us on the 13th ....so we will also be following this closely.

I hope it's up and running for both our sailings.

I bought a ten pack of RFID blockers for OM. I'll pull the medallion out only when I want to use it and thus won't be tracked.

Less expensive options worth considering:

  • at port check in, tell them you want only the cruise card and that they can keep the medallion
  • take it and put it in the safe in your cabin for the entirety of the cruise
  • take 3 square inches of aluminum foil per device from your pantry at home and wrap the little gem up

Just boarded the Royal. Last week they made all of the slot machines in the casino “Ocean Medallion Ready” and allegedly did more work to enable OM, but there’s no visible evidence of that since the cabin doorway screens have not been installed yet. They also put in brand new TVs but live TV isn’t functioning. Sailaway is also delayed by an hour and a half to two hours due to an unspecified “technical problem”. Maybe the TV repair man hasn’t finished adjusting the antenna yet?

Hey!!

i know it’s a little off topic but since you are on Royal now and we Board on Saturday, can you please tell me what time late traditional dining is on your sailing?  Folks have been reporting it is 7:45 but those were holiday sailings so wondering what it is now.

thanks and have a great cruise!!

If you could get just the cruise card I would. The RFID come in a packet of 10 for a dollar so why fumble with aluminum foil. I have the sleeve over all my credit cards now too, they still fit in the sleeve in my wallet since they're so thin.

Just for the heck of it I called Princess last night and asked if the sailing I’m on (3/30/19) would be an OM and was told no by the rep.

Bummer...then probably not likely either for our cruise on 4/27/19.

P.S. Love your avatar!

I’ll be sure to update the progress after the cruise but you never know.... maybe they will surprise us and get it together.

Thank you! Your avatar is adorable as well.... and Kingsley, our avatar, agrees! 😍

I'm following this because I'm sailing on Royal in May, but I really think I'm following it because I want to see both of your avatars!!! I have a 15 year old yellow lab sweetheart, Bailey, who is approaching "moving on from us" and your avatars make my heart swell up!!!

Awww...our first lab was named Bailey too.  He was also a yellow lab.  I can tell your Bailey has a wonderful life with you because 15 years is amazing and wonderful for a lab.  Give him a hug from me and my labs - Chloe (pictured)  and Hogan.

Update from the Royal. I asked one of the OM folks on board when it would be rolled out and was told March. They were setting up the OM area next to the photo area and are displaying the accessories for sale already.

Many thanks for the photos! Good on ya.  I have read that later on, the medallions themselves will also be colour-coded to reflect your status??

Yup. Just the opposite of the photo. Medallions themselves are color coded but the insert cards are all blue.

Presenting of course, what else, a purchase opportunity for those who don’t want a blue insert card to buy a color coded one.

Brought to you by your ever thoughtful friends at Princess who are always looking out for you!

Thanx for that. This may sound slightly radical, but as a guy I'm considering the neck chain thingy for holding the Medallion. I don't want to wear something on my wrist and I don't fancy wearing a lanyard and 'flashing" my status to one and all. The neck chain could be worn under my shirt and thus wouldn't be visible. Just sayin'.

On princess.com it states that Royal is getting Medallion Class April 13, 2019. I would hope that everything would be tested on guest prior to their roll out since it was a huge problem when they started selling cruises advertised as a Medallion Class cruise and then couldn't get the technology working in time when they advertised it on Regal. I will be sailing on Royal April 6th which is the cruise previous to the April 13th launch so I am hoping we will be able to take advantage of the advancements. If anyone is going on Royal March 23rd or 30th please let us know if you got to use any or all of the Medallion Class features.

Several members of our roll call for the 4/6 sailing have been able to sign up for the medallion for this cruise. And so have I.  I completely all the info and got our Ocean Ready passes saved to my cellphone. It says to proceed directly to the Ocean Medallion desk to pick them up.

Did Princess give you a notice to sign up with that information? We only have a guaranteed cabin so that could be why we didn't get a notification. Knowing that I will look more into it to try to sign in.

No, there wasn't any notification. One of the roll call members found out by accident, probably from the long thread of the person who's on the trip around the Horn. They were handing them out on that one. You can either download the Ocean Ready app and do it through that or go to ocean.com and set up there. If you have a smartphone, then probably the app is the way to go. In  either case, you'll need to set up a new account for this. Somebody said that the password had to be the one you use on princess.com, but I used a different password and it worked fine for me.
