Short Oosterdam/Neptune suite review

The ship was in very good shape, it’s workers were constantly keeping her in sea worthy shape. The food and service was good to great as always.

First neptune suite was not impressed with it’s so called free breakfast at pinnacle grill, one pays big bucks not to get treated for 90+ minutes to have breakfast

Dinner was no different when it came to the same lengthy problem. We didn’t have issues like this while two NA cruises...

still service and quality keep bringing us back to HAL along with it’s smaller vessels...

We will be sailing on the Oosterdam in a Neptune Suite in Feb., first time on this ship but our 5th Neptune Suite on HAL. We have never done the Pinnacle Grill breakfast, but have always ordered a hot breakfast from Room Service and it's always been on time and hot. We also order most dinners through the Concierge in the Neptune Lounge from the MDR, again always on time and everything is hot. We only eat at the Pinnacle Grill for one or two dinners on a cruise, preferring to eat in our suite in a more casual setting - takes much less time than in the MDR and then we're off to the casino for the evening.

I remember you looking forward to the Neptune Suite.  Will you book another?

we booked on board for a  future cruise but back on NA....still debating if we keep NS or change to SS

Thank you for your review.

Even though it took 90 minutes for breakfast -- was it good?  Were there enough workers?  What was wrong with dinner?

yes there were plenty of workers maybe it was a kitchen problem

the food was good on both breakfast and dinner

but the time was an issue we just didn't expect although have read of this issue before on CC

we wonder if they know when one pays for the dinners or when they're comps....

the other perks were good with the NS....we just wonder if the extra $$ is worth it

Thank you for commenting on the Bamboo Beach Club excursion.  We have previously done this excursion and loved it.  We were going to do it again on our upcoming cruise, however, when you mentioned the 1.5 hours to get there I looked into it more closely since we are also docking at Falmouth.  When we took the excursion before it only took about 15-20 minutes to arrive, since we docked at Ocho Rios.

I looked up Falmouth v Ocho Rios -- they are 60 miles apart, also most of the excursions go to places that are much closer to Ocho Rios.  Having ridden in the 'luxurious' school buses in Jamaica, there is no way I am going to do an excursion 60 miles away.

Thank you again.

we cancelled due to bad weather the night before and were told that the beach might have seaweed and not in the best of conditions which we appreciated them telling us....we tried to cancel earlier but HAL rep said we would lose our money only to have to go through that, the tour worker was very kind with her information..

we will try to avoid Falmouth in the future if possible....all tours are far away closer to Ocho Rios

We weer in a Neptune Suite back in October on the "O" and had 1 breakfast in the PG. It was the same story took for ever and when they brought our breakfast it was wrong. I ordered a omelet with bacon, mushrooms, and cheese and got a salmon omelet. Not many people in the grill too so why the long wait, don't know. Told the manager and it appeared to fly over him.

We were in an aft Neptune Suite on the Oosterdam on the March Panama Canal Canal transit.  We had terrific service in the Pinnacle.  When we showed for our  Konigsdam Ocean Bar muster on the September Iberian Adventure I recognized our server from the Oosterdam Pinnacle Grill first thing.  We had great service in the Pinnacle that trip.  Sadly there isn't a lot of consistency with the chef and staff in the Pinnacle move from ship to ship as often as we do.  😉
