We are considering booking the Insignia. We like to spend time in the cabin but I could not find any information on in cabin movies. Are these included on demand? What tv channels are available? Thank you.

There are three TV channels with different scheduled movies (mix of new stuff, old classics like "Naked Jungle" on Amazon cruises, and some indie films) 24/7 (no On Demand, at least in the non-top suites) plus a channel with unorganized USA network serials (e.g., Modern Family, CSI, etc). There's Jacques Pepin cooking shows 24/7 and some NatGeo type shows. For news, there's the BBC, SkyNews, MSNBC and Fox. Music channels too. Onboard lectures and excursion descriptions round out the programming.

There is also a DVD player in every cabin and an extensive movie lending library.

BUT, the sound quality of the "View Sonic" TVs is quite poor.

I thought I read  someplace they have done away with the DVD library  & now movies available  on demand

Was I dreaming??

As I said, no "on demand" in A & B (and below) cabins. It may be in suites, but that's "above my pay grade."

The DVD libraries still exist (just borrowed one on Sirena), though the number of selections has diminished from years past. Maybe there's "in demand" across the fleet (or at least on Insignia, which has had the "Next" makeover). But, definitely not Sirena (yet, if at all).

They had the DVD library on Sirena during the Miami to Buenos Aires itinerary. Nice selection but the DVD player in our cabin didn't work. Oh well.

they could not get you  a working  DVD player??

We had trouble  getting the one in the TV to work on Riviera  by the time someone finally  replied   the day was gone & so was the mood to watch a movie  😉

Yes as noted   on demand  seems to be on Insignia so far

No, but it was no big deal.

Oceania NEXT replaces all the TVs and electronic systems.  Since the OP asked for Insignia.   The answer is movies are all by On Demand.  As far as TV shows.   Depends on the location of the world you are traveling.  The MTN satellite feed varies.   Typically FOX News, MSNBC, sometimes TCM.

If you want to watch DVDs in the not yet upgraded cabins, don't count on much being available. On the third try, they were able to get us a DVD player that worked. So check it out immediately and be persistent. I was traveling on Insignia with 12 year old twins to Bermuda. They watched every Jurassic Park movie with pizza when I went to tea. 🙂

In many 'O cruises we've never had a built-in (in the TV) DVD player that actually worked ... and only about 50% of the stand-alone players worked. Basically just more trouble than it was worth. :classic_sad:

Agreed that many of them are fouled up, mostly by well meaning passengers fiddling with the knobs and dials.

The good news is that a simple phone call to Engineering will get a "TV specialist" sent to your Cabin to get it reset back to factory settings.  Works about 80% of the time, and if not they will try to substitute a stand-alone  player t (first come, first served of course).

OTOH, it IS amazing how, with a captive audience such as an Oceania ship, the plot twists of a random episode of Maud can sweep the  community.  God will get you for that,  Walter!

It’s fine, I got my answer directly from Oceania instead. 😎

It is interesting  that you, who seems to have been annoyed that others did not share this information with you,  now chooses not to Post that answer here.

Whatever happened to "do unto others?"
