Flight time from Cape Canaveral to Orlando Airport

Recommended Posts

So what happens if you miss the 11:40 flight?  Nonrefundable flights?  You are taking a chance.  I agree with the prior poster giving you 50/50 chance.

Let's say you get a luggage time of 8:30am.  Line on ship, collect luggage, line through immigration (use a porter to speed up), out of building 8:45.  Find your transportation and on your way 9:00, arrive airport 9:45. (assumes no traffic or constructions delays.)  Check in at kiosk and drop luggage 10:00am.  Line to get through security... train to airside terminal... 11:00am. (one hour is NOT an exaggeration) Bathroom and buy something to eat and boarding has begun.  No extra time for any delay here.

We always use a porter. We have a running joke with every porter we use that people who spend thousands on a cruise, hundreds on booze, and untold $$ in casinos, can't seem to find a sawbuck or two to avoid an hour long slog through the customs lines. We are usually out by our car within 10 minutes of hailing a porter.

Sounds perfect Orville. We have a noon flight for a Harmony cruise in early September. We will have access the early suite walk off, will use a porter, and we also have Global Entry. We will have a car service waiting and have business checkin for the flight. That and GE will expedite the security lines as well at MCO. I think if we are in the car by 8:30, and traffic agrees, we will be good.

I have made an 11:00 am flight out of MCO with no issue but missed a 10:25 flight on another trip because the Freedom was late getting back and we could not walk off until 8:15.

in general the ships let you walk off by 7:15.  In your case you cannot walk off so you need to set it up with the ship to get sone of the earliest luggage groups. If you get that you should be off and through customs by 8:30 easy.  It is a 45 min drive to MCO on a good day.   We have used Coca Beach Shuttle.  If you are really tight set it up as a private trip.  Not a bad price if you have 4 people.  If you use a group shuttle remember they stop and multiple airlines so that takes time.

I would try 11:40 am if you can get the early tag and book a private shuttle.

Final note is MCO has lots of flight to most cities.  If you miss it you can usually catch another flight at some point on standby.

Normally they do offer Luggage Valet out of Port Canaveral on cruises of 7-nights or longer.

Problem is that I believe the earliest flight out of MCO with luggage valet is noon.  OP has an 11:40 flight so doesn't qualify.

in the news April 24

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has implemented enhanced passenger security screening procedures at Orlando International Airport. As a consequence, the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority and our airline partners advise passengers to arrive at their airline ticket counters no less than two hours prior to their scheduled departure time. ...  be prepared to place all electronics into the bins for screening.

I wouldn’t do it. Not unless you do self-assist.

Not it only could you run into problems with customs in disembarking, or getting to the airport, you might have problems at the airport itself. With passengers from multiple cruise ships and tourists from the theme parks, MCO is known for its security backups. They advise you to get to the airport at least two hours before your flight. Sometimes, during busy holiday seasons, they advise three hours ahead of time.

This.  LONG lines at check in.  LONG lines at security (thank you Pre-Chek).

Even so, 2 hours before was close that last time I flew out of MCO.
