Rare Noxequifans Posted May 22, 2019 #3 Share Posted May 22, 2019 Hudson Yards is now open and worth a visit. Also, if walking suits one Central Park is charming and a nice break from the hustle and bustle of the City.

PelicanBill Posted May 25, 2019 #5 Share Posted May 25, 2019 I second walking Central Park - and find all the cool statues within. Walk Times Square, or the Waterfront. 9/11 Memorial. Walk over the Brooklyn Bridge. Take in the NY Public Library, Rockefeller Center, Grand Central Terminal, and Penn Station. Look for the art on walls and ceilings in many of these places. Walk the High Line Park (a former elevated railway.) The Staten Island Island Ferry is free - just get off and back on at the other end. Good view of the Statue of Liberty and Harbor. Walking tours of many neighborhoods can be found online too. Many hidden gems... like the firehouse used for Ghostbusters and the Apartment building used for Friends. Many museums are pay what you can afford.

Tickets to the vessel are free, but you need to get on line weeks ahead of time to get them. Get on the virtual line early in the morning.
lenquixote66 Posted May 25, 2019 #7 Share Posted May 25, 2019 Not free but very cheap is something I suggested to many people and they loved it. If you are in Manhattan in the late Spring or Summer you can take a commuter bus to Brooklyn for $5 a person and go to Manhattan Beach which is beautiful. If you board the bus in an off hour ,late morning or early afternoon you are likely to be on a bus with very few people and you can see a lot of Brooklyn.
