Bermuda late April/early May

Has anyone done a cruise to Bermuda in late April or early May? How was the weather? Planning to sail out of New York City on NCL Encore next spring (2020). Thank you for all your replies.

Last year i sailed on the Escape to bermuda in the middle of may, perfect weather..not hot, not humid..just right

Done both April and May. In April you can have a cold sailaway and arrival in NY and sea days that can be very chilly with the relative wind over the deck. Lately its been staying cooler longer up here and April can be cold still. In Bermuda its kind of nice, upper 60s to low 70s day and mid 60s night, although it can be somewhat chilly for a beach day.  May seems to be much better, 5 or so degrees more on average. 

 

In April, just be prepared for a possibility of cold enroute and near NY.

The sea water temperature in late April, early May will be too cold for most people although on a nice day you may be able to sit on the beach. Typically the beach season in Bermuda starts around Memorial Day.

We took the Dawn out of Boston the first week of May 2018.Weather was nice, but we got lucky. Water in Bermuda was a bit cool, I went in for a quick dip but did not stay long. That time of year it is a matter of luck.

Bring a hoodie just in case.

Earliest I did was around May 20th but by then it was in the 80s every day at sea-

The 1 st 24 hours at sea will be cold. I went April 26 this year. The weather in Bermuda was in the 70’s and sunny. No humidity. The ocean water was cold though. No swimming but great for sunbathing. The last day at sea was also cold. Had a great time and would do it again this time of year.

Took the Gem out of Boston leaving April 26th.  First sea day and last sea day were a little cold and windy, and first sea day the waves were rough.  But the weather in Bermuda was great!

We cruised to Bermuda on May 12, 2019 and spent the week in paradise.  The weather was perfect and we swam at Horsehoe Bay.  While the water temperature was in the mid-70’s, it was very refreshing.
