They've lost us - on Voyager at least.

We finally made it to D+ and RCI decide to remove the Concierge Lounge from Voyager!

Any ship that replaces the CL with a Suite Lounge will be off our list for future sailings, that's for sure.

Brian

From what I believe it all ships, that’s from what they have been saying on the royal Carribean forum.

So what’s the alternative?

HAL sounds pretty good but all my friends are trapped in the C&A warm and fuzzy feeling.

I keep telling them loyalty schemes are there for the benefit of the company.

According to the RCL web site deck plans, Ovation, Radiance, Serenade and Quantum still have the CL.  These are the ships we're most likely to sail on living in Sydney and we'll continue to use them until they convert the CL to a suite lounge. Voyager has lots of sailing out of Sydney and we will miss her, but there's no way I would consider sailing on her again.

I'm not happy that they dangle a carrot in front of you and when you finally reach it, it's taken away.

We'll look into HAL and other alternatives. Thanks.

According to posts on the RC forum,a lot of Americans that are D Plus were denied access to concierge lounge on Ovation an radiance on the transpacific.

I haven’t heard anything from Aussies.

I’m on ovation in a few weeks ,I’ll see.

But to be honest I really care.

I don't see how they can offer Concierge Lounge access as a tier level benefit, list the lounge on the official website deck plans as a CL, and then deny you access? What was their reasoning?

I've sent an email to the CAS asking for a list of ships that still have CL access and those that are planning to convert to Suite Lounge only.

I'm keen to hear how you get on. Thanks.

‘In the C&A terms and conditions ,it says they can do what they want.

As someone said they can chain you to the mast and have their way.

Let me know how you went and I’ll keep you informed.

This is the footnote regarding RC access from  the current file "CAS_Member_Benefits_Grid_APRIL-2019"

15 The Concierge Club is designated as a smoke-free area. We respectfully
request that guests observe a Smart Casual dress code when visiting the Club (no
swim or pool attire is allowed, footwear is required at all times). Guests younger
than 21 years must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times. Guests and
friends of Suite guests/Diamond Plus & Pinnacle Club members are not allowed
into the Concierge Club due to limited space. Concierge Club is available on select
ships.

And here's the disclaimer;

General Terms & Conditions
Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. has the right to terminate the Crown &
Anchor Society®  Program ("the Program") or to change the Terms
and Conditions of participation and benefits, in whole or in part; at any

Any changes they decide to make should be reflected in an updated Benefits grid.

If they denied a lot of qualifying Americans, I'm surprised it didn't end up in a class action. . .

That may be available at a higher tier level and something to look forward to 🙂

G'day all,

We are on Voyager in March & really looking forward to it as our first cruise as Diamond.

we are (DIGS) _ Diamonds in Grand Suite! 😎

Never been on this class of ship, size wise in between Radiance & Ovation.

has anyone done the taste of royal?

we have done a few chef's table & really enjoyed them.

I will check out the DL, not expecting much, small room with no views!

Maybe hit the DL for a coffee if its closer than the SL.

Cheers

Craig

We never expected we would get to Diamond when we started cruising in 2011. But we got there, not on a mission for C&A level, but by just cruising for enjoyment. We have done other lines, just mostly RC, as we enjoy the RC experience.

The DL itself is not a big attraction for us. Mostly too crowded, even in 2015 when we first got to Diamond, and the lining up for drinks at the 'bar' in DL is not what we are looking for. Some will say they attend the DL for the camaraderie of like minded travelers, not for the free drinks, but why are there people there mostly only when the free drinks are on?? I like a drink as much as most. but have been known to have a chat without a beer in my hand.

We mostly get some D drinks to enjoy on our balcony before show & dinner, and use the DL more during the day for a coffee & quiet relax. Also about half our cruises since reaching D have been with others who are not D, so we like to spend time with them also.

All good!

Makes it tough when people have spent $1000's of dollars to get some perks which are just removed depending on the ship or the cruise (amount of C&A members) or whatever the reason..

Breakfast is in chops ,The best service on ship and very pleasant.

For tendering meet the concierge on deck 2,forward elevator and she will escort you past the great unwashed and put you on the tender. There will be a note in your cabin.

We did all the specialty restaurants and were not really impressed, The only one that was ok was izumi. Mainly because of the head waiter,Laverne. She took our order in the suite lounge and come and got us when it was ready. Then she served the desert later in the suite lounge.

Our concierge was a Filipino lady named Maria Flores. She was ok but nothing to talk about.

The one person that absolutely made our holiday was the waitress in suite lounge.

I pretty sure you will have her ,I believe she is doing the whole Australian season.Olha from the Ukraine.

Just back from Voyager today, whilst the new Diamond lounge is far from comfortable for more than 30 people I will say the Conceirge and bar staff went out of their way to make things work. Never had to wait for drinks. The room is just too small. Apparently the same will happen to Explorer on her next refit.

Whilst  we did think it would be a disappointment, it was all ok for us.

  • 1 year later...

We are Diamond+ members and well on way to Pinnacle and although we got married on the Voyager by Captain Sindra on the helideck early 2016 having a wonderful time, we went back onboard March 2020 and was so disappointed and insulted at the treatment of loyal members.to the point we will not be back on the Voyager and have now all but avoided RCCL. We don’t care about the free drinks as we always have drink packages. It’s more somewhere to get away from the ever increasing crowded ship RCCL market is now going for.

Welcome to CC, I Note your first post. So Royal Carib no longer provides an Elite lounge, i.e. for Diamond members? Or have have they lowered the entry requirements?

Welcome to cruise critic.

We where short changed with the refurbishment of voyager but I would be on it tomorrow.

But it was in a dilemma at the time if it was going to get a electrical upgrade ,For it to be hooked up to shore power so it could be home ported in Los Angeles .
The electrical components weren’t ready and the ship was supposed to return to Singapore at a later date.

Its a long story but every thing turned to mud in the world.

The Americans will get it next year so we can listen to them about the state of the ship.

RC has got some of the best perks .

You will find most on this forum are Princess  and P&O fans, just don’t listen to them.

Just a chip on their shoulder . LOL
