kiek Posted February 29, 2020 #1 Share Posted February 29, 2020 Can I use onboard credit for gratuity?
GastroGnome Posted February 29, 2020 #2 Share Posted February 29, 2020 (edited) You can certainly assign your onboard credit as a tip to a specifc indiviudal. There is a form you can get to do so. If you make a purchase on board which contains a gratuity element - like a drink from the bar - that can be paid from OBC. I don't think - and I stand to be corrected - that you can use it to pay your daily gratuity charge. ETA: And indeed I have corrected myself. Yes OBC can be used for daily gratuities according to the wonderful folk on CC here https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2530553-obc-cannot-be-used-towards-gratuities/ and here https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2351068-use-onboard-credit-for-gratuities/ (Dont be confused by the first title - you can use OBC in this way) Edited February 29, 2020 by GastroGnome

Yes, you can use obc to pay for your daily gratuities on board. You can also use it to make additional tips to individuals (your stateroom attendant or butler only) or to groups like dining room staff, bar tenders, maintenance, etc. These groups will share the tips. There is a form at Guest Relations for this recognition.

Rare Jim_Iain Posted February 29, 2020 #5 Share Posted February 29, 2020 Yes --- either prepay them or the daily gratuities will be applied to your NR OBC first then Refundable OBC.
Work2cruz! Posted February 29, 2020 #6 Share Posted February 29, 2020 I just got off the Silhouette last week. I’m embankment day I found out I had more non refundable OBC than I thought. I already has PPD gratitudes so I asked if I can give to my Cabin Steward. I filled out a form and I could pick from Dining, Bar Staff, Cabin Steward or cleaning staff. You can also split it in different amounts. This is much better than just letting the cruise line have it.

Newfie Diva Posted March 1, 2020 #9 Share Posted March 1, 2020 We rented a cabana on a sea day but didn’t use it much because it was cool and windy. They didn’t charge us but we didn’t know this until the next day so too late to do anything with it. So we filled out the form to make sure it went to some deserving people instead of back to the cruise line.
Rare hammo Posted March 2, 2020 #10 Share Posted March 2, 2020 Off Topic slightly ,still regarding OBC - Can we still use the on board credit in the casino ?. I remember We were able to apply some to our seapass card and use it in the slot machines , just wondering if that was still OK ?
helen haywood Posted March 2, 2020 #11 Share Posted March 2, 2020 Yes, you can use it in the casino. The only thing that has changed is you can no longer cash OBC out (minus a fee) in the casino.
